Well the TR7 is out, and a lovely minty fresh Acclaim is in, thanks to Vek ;D Not much to say really as there is nothing wrong, and it works. Must be a first Bought some BBS alloys on the way back to Coventry as well, so need to get them fitted, and will get a pic up. I think I might need to get some more tapered wheel nuts to fir them. Only real plan is to fit the alloys, maybe lower it subtly, fit a cd player. Thats about it really Here is a quick photoshop of the actual wheels on the actual car - Cheers, Rob

Looks very smart.
Incidentally, were these available in any other colour than gold? They all seem to be that hue.

Yes, but you never see them, either gold or silver seem to be the main ones. There are a few on ebay that are red / burgundy, never seen a blue or black one mind you.

Great cars.Had one years ago when all my mates had XR2,3i etc.And mine was as fast and cheaper to insure.Only problem mine had was the outside door handles break off.Check yours to see if they are cracked. If so be carefull with them.I found out this was a common problem with them. Also they do like to rust.

Great to see that you have bought it, It's a great buy I think and must be much easier to life with then the TR7, At least you can now take a car load of hunnyz out with you!. And talking of other colours, I saw this CD Model at Newmarket races last weekend. 1984 Triumph Acclaim 1.3 CD in Newmarket by Trigger's Retro Road Tests!, on Flickr

I made him aware of this tonight . Rob, I'll see if VASS near me have any spare, or an old friend (he had two sets of BBS wheels for his 2.0 Mk2 Golf GTi). Either way, it's a lovely and uber clean ride. Mintyfresh indeedy!

Found a couple of suspension bits, lowered springs - 'Spax S012017' which will lower it by around 35mm, Seem to be just over £100 for the 4. You can get a front anti roll bar for around £50 as well.

Nice, I had a look around this at the autoshite meet and it looked very clean indeed, baring a few dents here and there. I think Torsten is equally happy with the TR7!

Bit of an update, the wheels did not fit, they were too deep (as they had a built in 10mm spacer) so would have needed to fit longer studs. Decided to knock the idea on the head and look for some E30 Steels, which I have yet to find. I have now done around 1.5k miles so far in it (when I have really needed a good reliable car) and its not skipped a beat, a slight whine from a loose / old alternator belt but thats about it. And the bonus of getting between 35-40 MPG from a twin carb 1.3! Posted before, but this is still the plan - With 14" BMW E30 Steels, lowered (35mm) and uprated springs should be doable under £150 when funds allow

That looks great in those last two pics. What was the engine from in these? IIRC they were a 1335cc or something? Were they based on the Honda Ballade?
