They fetch rather good money in Germany. Put it this way, this one is €11000, looks a bit frilly around the edges and doesn't come with an MOT... Breaking your one just to pinch the motor would be more than slightly silly, I reckon.

I saw one of these on power meet in sweden a couple years ago, i think it had german plates. Silver, vinyl roof, done up as a muscle car. Very different and cool. According to wikipedia these have de dion rear suspension, how cool is that?!

I am on another forum (Coin related) where whenever a member scores something for super cheap, we give them a "You suck" award. I.E. Someone found a coin worth $2,500 recently... for $11. He got a You Suck.
In that spirit, we ought to do that here IMO and you deserve one. Even this Yank know that's a RARE car and did I see factory air con? I have seen a few on German eBay, never saw one with air that I remember.

OK I have no idea what they are worth in the UK, Germany, whatever, just going on the basis of what I see a large GM car from the early 70s with a "big" engine as probably worth.
To be fair it will probably sell for a lot more on the continent than here.

I would go to great extremes to get my hands on an old Opel barge like that. I'd sell afew of my other opels if it came to it!!!!!
Don't break it, she needs putting on the road. Even better if it's pre 1973. 5.7 litres of free road tax!

As said previously. The only sensible thing to do it get it road legal. or at least put it in for a test to see what it would need. .... Then sell it for a tidy profit, and spend the proceeds on whatever.

Hey guys! Wow a fairly unanimous theme! lol, err ok for now the car is getting cleaned up and I want everything to work before I decide anything. The car is mint despite the moss and I cant stop staring at it wishing I had the time for it. I have the rest of the week off work so the first thing is fuel, wash and hoover. Would love to sell it for a decent profit wont ask the earth as the most important thing is that it goes to a loving home!
Anyone wanna start making offers before shes ready??
More pics very soon!!

part the engine and box out by all means, and whoever ends up with the rest, lob a modern twin turbo tdi and 5 speed auto in there. that would make the worlds finest autobahnstormer.
IMHO of course.

Lol, t'would indeed be fast but the car is so original its unbelieveable so maybe a replacement SBC and a fettle.
But if I do strip the car it would be stripped with the intent of rebuild so keep intact everything I don't need I.E no chopping or ragging!!

Theres someone breaking a Corvette C5 on eBay right now... LS1 (LS4 maybe?) and all the bits you need to fit it in your Reckord (you'd need a conventional gearbox as the C5 uses a rear transaxle, unless you use that in the Reckord but forget having a back seat then...)

No it has to be the old skool SBC lump to suit the period of the car... Fair enough. I had a SBC FD Victor and that was an awesome laugh.
