Though its about time I started a project thread for Kimmy. When I brought her she looked like this Only done a few small things till now, mainly removing the bumpers and spraying them matt black. Have got the rust to sort out next, but thanks to MM & Butters, I have a new set of wheels Going to go for the stretched tyre look but was keen to see how they looked. So popped down the garage this morning to have a little play.... Checking the poke, this is with the 205's on the back Checking front, this is with the 195's, no rubbage at all, but thats because it has yet to be attacked with the stick I was trial fitting the front number plate in the lasttwo photos, can't decide if I should have it in the center bumper or bottom corner. If I have it in the bottom corner then I will have to fill in the hole in the original mounting postition. Need to get new tyres and make up some hub-centirc rings to locate the wheels better. Will probably go for 185/55's and keep the steel wheels for mot time. Even with the 195/205 width tyres, the wheels clear the bodywork fine and should still be ok when I drop the suspension. The good news is that even with the 7" width on the wheels, the doors still open.......just Grin Gary

It actually look surprisingly cool with the wheels/ride height as it is! Far more than I was expecting.
If you're going to lower is (which, as you should know from me, is something that has to be done) I reckon you would be better off with some 165/55/14 tyres. They are more expensive (about £48 each) but will give you a lot more clearance to go lower compared to the 185/55's. Overall you gain 23mm diameter which equates to nearly 1/2" drop straight away and nearly 1/2" more arch clearance for even more lows ;D
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
BTW - it was great to meet you the other day - sorry it was just a quick stop.

Thanks for the info, I did notice that i'm going to have to do something about the wheel nuts, the standard ones only bite down right on the edges of the holes, and the thread doesn't fully reach the end of the nut. I'm also concerned about them pulling themselves threw the softer alloy wheel. But have got a few ideas of how to get around this. Was really good to meet you and Butterz, could have spent all day chatting about cars Will have to see if i can make it to Area52 for a play date, sleep in the van or something lol Poo photo, but this really made me laugh Gary

Great project, Ive always wanted to get one of these as a second car to my 200sx but somehow everytime I see one come up I'm skint. I'm really going to have to bite the bullet one day Get some stretch, hit it with the stick big time, tidy her up and she'll be ready to roll ;D

I've often wondered, what's behind the grille trim piece between the headlights and do these look any good without it? Wheel choice is excellent and plans sound fine.

Nice van, what have you got planned? Rust repair and lowering only? You gonna go really low like MMs rascal? Anything else planned?

Is it just me that thinks the front panel would look epic with the headlight holes filled in and some round headlights fitted instead?

You know there is a round light version? Not of the rascal but the suzuki super carry, which is identical to rascals I personally don't like the round eye version, but i think with the stock panel of the rascals that covers the whole front it could look all good

Haven't done much to kimmy lately, but am thinking the front under bumper needs a little something extra. I was thinking along the lines of a vr6 golf splitter or full bumper off of a supercarry or something.
What do people reckon?

I didnt see that one, but they just come across as wannabes. That is how they came across in the program, but in the link the driftworks bloke makes it sound like they can actually drive.
