Howdy, thought some of you might be interested to see this 6 wheeler moggy that has been getting attention in the workshop recently..
The owner has had it quite a number of years, built it himself, but it's been sitting for a while and is in need of a little TLC. He's a sign writer and custom painter, which will explain the pinstriping and paintbrush mascot, which incidentally he made himself out of a block of ally.. He's doing most of the work himself, he'll be the chap with a beard in some of the pictures.
This is his website for anyone feeling nosy
www.mclarensigns.com
The car as it came in
The rear is being redesigned slightly, with model A ford rear lamps and different exhaust layout.
Fuel tank, wiring will be improved!
Next time we might SHUT the door before grinding out a load of filler >_<
The once perfect rear bed has suffered a little from being outside, and is being cleaned up and refinished using narrowboat varnish.
It's made from pitch pine, the main bed is old wood from a lemonade factory that was pulled down, and the outer rail is an ex bannister from a Catholic girls school, complete with brass studs to stop them sliding down!
Stripped the car ready for bodywork and prep.. That's me on the right.
The front end of the vehicle used to belong to a van, but the rear was sold and a pickup cab back was sourced, an 8 inch section grafted in so anyone over 4 foot tall could sit in it, and all welded up. Some of the old filler had lifted, revealing the section that had been added.
End of day 1.
Finally, there is a (small) prize to whoever can correctly identify THIS.
More to come soon, inc Fiesta brake conversion and PAINT.
