I've had to jack it in for a bit as my knees are completely shot, but I'm keeping hold of my street bike for now. Mainly because it's completely worthless, but mostly because it holds a lot of good memories. That's it's current guise. Crappy Avid cable brake as my Juicy 5 has a shattered piston and my Juicy Carbons got murdered when a 'mate' "borrowed" them for a trip to Les Gets in France. Mongoose Ritual frame (It's heavy, it's long, it's low, it's curse word, I love it), no name rigids, 3-piece cranks, 28-13 gearing, Atomlab Gi Street triple wall rims, Tioga Skidrow tyres, Gi rear hub, I-beam seat, Atomlab stem, Gusset bars and the standard Pig headset. Can't wait to get back out on it though. Especially seeing as I've had to sell my NS Central. Still have my Zoo! Pitbull 26" trials frame to build and one of the 4 Azonic Steelheads I killed is still here too, snapped chainstays, standard.

well I went over to braintree BMX track today. pretty cool, despite the horrendous storm-force wind!! theres something there for all abilities really, spent a good few hours with a few of the locals sessioning the doubles down the last straight, it was good fun. it was a bit windy to try anything any bigger, but ile save that for next time!! bike performed well apart from the forks being too soft, i need to pump up the preload. the nice short rear triangle was really quick and whippy over the woops. elmo, what do you think to that seat/post setup on your bike? been thinking of buying it as it weighs about half what mine does, and CRC have it on special offer. filby, if you don't get it, ive got enough bits to put together another bike

Will discuss this when I see you! I've got an old bmx that can donate an fsa pig headset and redline stem. and have an old mtb that can donate it's bars and maybe a couple of other bits, can you use bmx cranks? if so I also have a diamond back set of cranks and some wellgo pedals would be good to get back on it, I found my bmx too small filby, if you don't get it, ive got enough bits to put together another bike

used to love going up to the braintree bmx track, i did quite alot of street riding too. last year i finally finshed building my bike - NS suburban frame, halo 24'' rims with gold NS hubs, microdrive, eastern cranks etc.. cost me about £1300 to build over the course of 8 months, and i got nicked a month after i finished it I'm sureim gonna.end up seeing it when I'm in colchester at some point, but oh well, still got me bmx havent been to chicksands in quite a while now, might go up on the bmx sometime soon, get back into it

elmo, what do you think to that seat/post setup on your bike? been thinking of buying it as it weighs about half what mine does, and CRC have it on special offer. Very light and it's pretty nice to sit on, even at that height. Bit of a pain to adjust though. You can tilt it, but there's no forwards/backwards movement at all, made getting it in the right place when I was learning Barspins and suicide no handers a nightmare. The seat itself is pretty fragile though, fairly sure mine has a nice big crack running through it. I prefer it over the EA50 and Charge Stool that was on my NS when I sold that and it comes in all sorts of sizes. The seat tube on that Mongoose is a BMX size (27.2 iirc).

I used to be fairly useful with a bike, never did competition stuff but adapting Bmx tricks to mountain biking and downhill was always fun,I could wheeley all day too ;D My 7 yr old has got me back on my bikes and had me showing off on this its a '96/7 Gary Fisher 'Aquilla'.Its a fantastic machine,I've had it from new and despite years of abuse I still haven't broken it! we've found some dirt ramps on Esher common that I'm itching to have a run at,mind you at 40 I'm aware I don't bounce like I used too

an update. 4 years later, and not a lot else had really happened. until last week...
after talking on friendface about all the riding vids from back in the day (dirt, getta grip, chainspotting, mud cows, the sprung series, etc.) i decided to have another look at what local stuff was available to ride. well, it appears that what was 'chitts hill' is now 'colchester bike park'!
there has been a LOT of building going on up there, and the land is in the throes off being handed over to the council as a permanent site. a local guy called mark is the driving force behind it, hes put in a lot of effort to get it up to where it is now, and has plans for a lot more from talking to him. its really fired me up for riding again, and ive been up with the chainsaw too helping him realise some of his plans for the place.
the site is being specifically aimed at solely MTBs rather than BMX, so the stuff up there is a little rougher than some trials, with exposed roots and squirrely sections mixed in with the berms and jumps to keep you sharp. theres some great stuff thats been built and is being developed further, a good dual track and then a bigger gravity over to one side as well. its mostly been built buy older guys on DH spec full sussers so all the jumps are fairly flat but very fast. as a result ive gone back to my longer supercross frame, knobbly tyres and even two brakes! I'm still singlespeed and hardtail though.
if anyone wants to come over and ride and help build and develop the site further, I'm sure mark will appreciate it.
