Was looking through the BBC book of Daft Cars Tonight and discovered two of my rides in there (sort of!). My Pug Partner and Kangoo were both concept cars (clearly times were hard !) Started me think about which other concepts Id owned. Only one I could come up with was my Sierra, which came from a much cooler concept than my other two! So, show me your rides when they were Concepts! and the coolest, and retro one Anyone ever made a replica of that from an early Sierra?

the Passat Mk.II concept car was the IRVW II ( = "integrated research Volkswagen") it was launched in 1980, before the Mk.II Passat was officially introduced; and it features already the facelift from 1985 (Big bumpers, taillights etc.) ...

So the Matiz was by ItalDesign, eh? I've always thought that they were freakishly good looking for some reason.

Following on from the Matiz, I was surprised to find the following concerning my Cinquecento! In the mid 1990s, a number of concept cars based on the Fiat Cinquecento were developed by a number of design houses including one that featured half of the car's interior and a running board to place a bike. Another of these designs was the Lucciola, a proposal for a new Cinquecento by Giorgetto Giugiaro. However instead of the car becoming the next small Fiat city car, a version of the design ended up being put into production by the South Korean Daewoo Motor as their Matiz.

Matiz? good looking? cant get on with that. I know they're not exactly supercar material, but something about them just looks so right, especially in that metallic gold colour they come in. To me they're one of the last properly lightweight, simple, truly small cars. I mean, the current Yaris looks (visually) like it weighs about two tonnes, whereas the Matiz is so visually light. Right, now that bizarre modern Daewoo love-fest is over, let's get back to the proper retro stuff. Very-near-production VW Type 3 convertible. What a shame the structure was too weak to satisfy VW's engineering standards!

Citroen always did awesome concepts. I used to have a HB GT with a factory supplied bell housing to turn it in to a GT version of this -
