Price: £4000
Additional Information:
It's with a heavy heart I'm offering my pride & joy up for sale.
She has to make way for the new addition to the family.
She's a rare and desirable 1972 tax exempt Fiat 850t Fiesta.
These classic campers are not only beautiful but extremely economical,
very practical and more unusual, and much cheaper than, a VW camper.
It will fit in a standard size garage as it is only 5'5" tall, which is a definite advantageover most other larger campers.
The engine has covered just over 51,500 miles.
Chassis is totally solid and undersealed, bodywork in really good shape (has beenDinitrol rustproofed).
It is a very well maintained and much loved example in all round excellent condition.
I have driven less than 1000 miles in the 6 months that I have owned her.
The van was rebuilt by the previous owner and he spent a lot of money to get it to its current condition. He bought it from a Fiat 850 specialist on the south coast who had previously fitted an uprated higher final drive gearbox from an 850 sport coupe which makes a noticeable difference to motorway cruising speed.
When he got the van it had been stripped out for some body repairs. He had any further welding required done at a local specialist to him before refitting a refurbished, original interior.
The interior is made from plywood (not cheap laminated chipboard like later models) and a new ply floor (with underfloor leisure battery storage hatch) has now been fitted to match.
When I bought her I had everything checked over and treated her to a full service, a brand new original Weber carburettor and new radiator.
She now starts first time every time and runs beautifully.
It's in really great condition for a 39 year old Fiat.
The interior features a two ring gas hob and grill, sink with hand pumped water tap, electric mini fridge and 12v lighting.
The rear seats and front bench fold down to create a large double bed
(I'm 6' 1" and can stretch out comfortably) and there is a single hammock style adult bunk in the elevating roof.
All of the original cushions will be supplied with the van along with the current denim-covered foam that is currently installed. I intended to have them recovered but never got around to it.
The only downsides I can think of are a couple of marks and minor bubbles to paintwork (as to be expected on a vehicle of this vintage), the speedo cable needs replacing (I've ordered a replacement) and the leather door check strap is missing from the passenger door (available on eBay).
Insurance is very cheap on a classic policy (I pay £165 a year for fully comprehensive including European breakdown cover and agreed value of £5000) and road tax is free!
Parts for these vans are easy to obtain as many are shared by other Fiats of the same era.
The van is worth at least £4000 considering the original condition, the mileage, how rare the vehicle is (I've been told the amount of these campers left in the UK is in single figures), the amount that I and the previous owner have spent on her and the prices I have
seen average 900t Amigos (the more modern version of these campers) going for recently.
All in all, it's a lot of fun for relatively little money. An ideal camper for the summer at a fraction of the cost of a VW, and much rarer too!
If you have any more questions or would like to view the van (in Brighton) give me a call on 07922008429. No time-wasters or tyre-kickers please.
(I'll be away from Wednesday 1st until Monday 6th).
