Anyone running a lowered Volvo 240? I'm just ordering springs for mine and was wondering what experience folk have of running a lowered 240, I'm looking at minus 3" front and 2.5" rear, just worried if this is a bit to low for a dailly roller.
also if anyone recomends any dampers/struts to match
any thoughts greatly appreciated

The springs dislocate before they even look lowered, if you don't mind that just cut away

Heh heh i know what you mean! on my last 740 i cut 3 coils out of each corner then jublee clipped them back in.
This cars a bit to good to do a chop job, hence why I'm ordering springs, I guess I'm just looking for a bit of re-assurence, i really want the 3"/2.5" drop, but just wondering how low other folk have gone before they become problematic!

I (as in me and Rmad) cut my springs in half. Never ever had a problem, even with the MOT.

Mine's on aftermarket lowering springs with a couple coils lopped out and still has me looking at it figuring out how to make some coilovers from another set of struts

What did you use the 30mm lower ones? Any pics??? I'm getting my springs made by Coilsprings Sheffield, used them before and found them vey good! How much lower do you think you are and is it a pain to drive around town?

That was about 4" I think. Handling was better, no rolling about. Occasionally it caught on speedbumps if I forgot to go carefully.
I wonder where it is now? Anyone?

The Volvo 240 is made for bad swedish rural roads and have a jeep inspired ride height from the factory, are you just running under normal conditions you can lower it very much before the ground clearance gets too low.

How much lower do you think you are and is it a pain to drive around town? I bought it with the lowering springs already fitted and it wasn't low enough for me. I'd guess it's lowered 4-5 inches in total. I've got about the same in ground clearance left. Was no problem to drive because it's really no lower than most modern cars at that height. I'm lowering it more by putting a really heavy engine in the front ;D

Hate to be the one to do this but can we see another angle because that rear arch is screaming Photoshop at me. Looks like someone forgot to remove the remanants of a mudflap before 'shopping lows, because technically the trailing part of the rear arch would be below ground level. It's also the only picture of a Volvo 240 in his Photobucket account. I know if I had a 240 that low, I'd have LOADS of pics of it!

This one, oooh yeah, aghhhh i want my springs! Anyone know if one of these early grills fits a late 240? Soon to be on 16" banded Mondeo rims, and lowered!

Anyone know if one of these early grills fits a late 240? Not without extra work - the bonnet and wings (and the scuttle panel) are different too. Possibly the inner front panel, which supports the lights. And the lights aren't just any old 7" sealed beams - no, Volvo had to be different. ben90210 ben711200's thread has lots of information regarding front end swappage, since he's done it.
