I'd echo what's been said above tbh.
If you throw more money at it (although that's a pretty good price imho) you won't make it back. At best a good herald is worth about £1500 in reasonable condition. Obv mint is worth more.
However, it really isn't a big job to swap the engine in one of these things. I managed to change the engine and gearbox in my old Sprintfire single handed in pretty much one day, over xmas, in a gazebo, in the snow !
At the end of the day it's your decision which way to go, but personally, I'd encourage you to keep it and find a way to swap the motor yourself.
For the exhaust, personally I think the twin box systems look best on a spitfire/GT6 and a single on the Herald/Vitesse. You won't notice any performance differance between the 2 and very little noise difference tbh. I've got a single straight through box on the Vitesse and by christ is it loud !
