Hey guys I've been kicking around to forum for a little while now and thought you might be interested in my project. Its a Peugeot 404, that is fairly standard at the moment. It has a 2" exhaust and is currently lowered at the rear (I know reverse rake makes baby jesus cry), the plan is to finish the suspension, put some wider wheels on, drop a 2 litre mechanical fuel injected engine from a 504 Ti and finish restoring it. This is my first project car, so because of inexperience and the garage always being full, progress is a bit slow. It will make a great everyday car when it is done. This is it parked on a nice winters day. I also have some 505 GTi seats to replace the standard front seats. Lastly the standard 1600 engine, this would go pretty good if the tiny carburettor didnt choke it. So there it is in all its current glory, there is a bit of rust to fix in it, fortunatly only one small bit is structural. Hopefully you will see some progress on it soon. cheers Steve.

It has been a while since ive been able to get space to work on the car. There has been a little bit of progress, the rust in the back has been fixed (sorry no before or after pics until I can find the other camera). Also I have the car in stands and have removed the front strut assembly. The hubs are in the boot Hopefully it will not take long to change the shocks and springs in the struts. enjoy.

Kyk meneer, the last post was in 2011!
Any pictures of your 404? - I have always wondered why they are so scarce on here.

2011 that's depressing the car is still on jackstands in the carport. We have been having real problems with the front shocks. The ones that we thought were good were not and it took a year alone just to source some konis. Now we are having problems installing them. It'll get there eventually, I've also been distracted by a Suzuki Cappuccino which isn't helping...

If you get me the part numbers required I will see if I can source them in Zim or South Africa. Cheers Mark

Have a soft spot for these.
My father had a '74 Estate when we lived in Swaziland in the late 70s and kept it when we moved to Botswana. It was sold on when we left Africa in '85 with almost 200k on the clock, many of those on dirt roads. It was great on dirt and even coped quite well with Botswana's sand tracks. Unfortunately it's looks were spoiled when it was caught in a hailstorm in Jo'burg (with Dad in it!) and every sky-facing surface was dented, even the creases in the tops of the wings.
We visited Zimbabwe in (probably) '84 and were able to park it next to it's much less abused twin outside the Victoria Falls Hotel.
Don't recall seeing any when we visited SA and Swaziland in 2013......
