Slapped the new bits onto the rado yesterday. Took it out for a test drive and whilst enthusiastically driving along a bypass the extra boost pressure from the 68mm pulley blew my ISV off! This took vacuum away from the brake servo and led to some very rough running. Nursed it to a layby and it was an easy fix, loose jubliees were the culprits but the pressure had torn the (probably degraded) rubber holding piece, allowing it to disconnect.
Aside from that I'm very pleased with it, surprised at the difference just a smaller pulley makes, hopefully going get an SNS tuning chip to compliment it soon.

Had to move some of my parts at work so took the opportunity to mock up some bits, highlights the exhaust manifold issues. Need to sack off the seat inlet manifold before it goes in lol. My SNS tuning chip turned up in 5 days after ordering from Only Charged Dubs so got that fitted in on Wednesday evening. Definitely makes a difference and the cars ready for a few runs up the strip at Retro Show. Dropped the tank and 20 years of crud out of the Syncro this afternoon, just need to separate the subframe from the engine and refit it and she'll be ready for welding .

Getting there slowly, bodyshop found a lovely chunk of fibre glass complete with cardboard under the scuttle panel.

So collected this today and it's looking a lot better. If you 're looking for a reliable bodyshop in or around Buckinghamshire area then I can't reccomend Gary at GM Bodycraft enough. Next step is to strip, powdercoat, polybush and rebuild the front and rear subframes.

Subframe's off and I've begun stripping it. Appears it hasn't been touched since it left the factory, this combined with leaking PAS fluid and road grime has lead to many a corroded rounded bolt head and curse words.
Also found some more rust on the sill under the trim tape and the subframe captive nut on the other side appears to have come at least partially loose as well.
It's a good job I have a completely unwarranted attachment to this shell or I'd have sacked it off for another one.
Plus I like the colour.

Got lucky on Wednesday. Got tipped off about some cheap coilovers for sale, turns out someone had bought these for their Mk2 believing that it was a G60 Syncro, turns out it was just a 2wd G60 (must be one of those never look under the bonnet/car types). The result being that I get a brand new set of KW V1 Inox line coilovers for £175 less than RRP . Whilst the fronts are the same, due to it's different rear suspension, Syncro equipped cars need shorter shock bodies, fitting these to a standard mk2 leads to the rear off the car being completely dumped to the floor, even with the coilovers set to their highest.

The mind does boggle, he's either been mugged off buying it or made a rather large assumption, either way...
Can't compalin really, his loss is my gain.
Definitely heart over head, I guess it's not just any golf, it's my golf.
