I can't really take a break as I'm on a schedule! I've GOT to get something that runs and I can use for work. Taking the bus in this weather is GRIM and luckily I've not had to go site to site or anything when I've not had use of a borrowed car. Its embarrassing as much as anything as well.
Dom, will plywood really hold a 4350 lb car on stands safely while I wressle a tranny out of it? You're a braver man than I, a guy I know was killed when his 105E fell on him.

i know the "sick in the stomach everytime i look at the damn thing" feeling all too well. sigma,s still in the lockup ten months on and i still cant bear to open the door. monumental amounts of work required on a car that is 9 miles from home. but hey, itll get there one day, its just bideing its time.
on the gravel drive front , you cant beat a council18x18 paving slab as a load spreader. at my last house but one all i had was 4 of these and a ply sheet for dropping things on.

When my mojo is on shaky ground, I take direct action by going on the bay and buying up a new shonky old heap to cheer myself up. Like many women do with shoes and handbags. Lovely. I also follow this approach which is why I own four cars currently ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Heres a piccie to show how car buying can spiral out of control ![](http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l290/jammz_r/MVC-011X.jpg) From the front we have a Lancia Delta which is meant to be being broken and the engine going in the Lada which may or may not ever happen, then to the right of the Delta we have the Lada (back up purchase for CARS) on which the MOT runs out the end of this month and will need welding for another (gonna buy a welder and see what happens ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ), then behind the Lada we have the All-Aggro which has been All-aggro, still it's taxed and MOT'd ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Ignore the white Pug, thats my sisters. And finally at the very back we have my Suzuki Samurai, the most reliable thing I own and also the most valuable which is why it's up for sale ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Still I'm going to the Midlands meet this Sat in the All-Aggro with breakdown cover so hopefully this will inspire me to gut the Delta, sell the Zook and buy a new £100 tat-mobile ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) I think everyone loses their Mojo at some point or other but it's very rare that a Mojo be lost forever!

I've been through the whole lack of motovation thing. Several times. I've found selling a car or getting rid of a bunch never fixes it... all I do then is regret selling it, like I did my first KP60 Starlet.
If I need motovation, I reckon this forum is where it's at... so many projects being constantly updated, and someones always got something positive to say to keep the modifying/fixing juices flowing.
Our annual swap meet is coming up soon too, so that'l no doubt inspire me (with the hope I can find cheap stuff!).

Dude, take a break. Buy an old pooper of the bay to smoke around in it for a few months and forget about cars for a while. They aint gonna go anywhere in in a couple of months you'll see something that fires you up again and you'll be straight back out on it again. My enthusiasm always tends to come in shorts and spurts and when i'm on a low the worst thing i can do is try to force myself to work on a car because i know i'll get nothing done and if i do get anywhere i'm bound to have to redo it later because it wont come up to scratch. It probably doesnt help that i work on cars for a living so its not exactly getting away from it all.
As for shows, i can take them or leave them really, apart for CARS because its 'our' show, the others i'll go to if i feel like it but to be honest i get more satisfaction out of building and driving a car than parking it up for people to pick holes in it. That said they can be a great source of inspiration when its needed.

my mojo went missing ages ago, when i got the quote for the GTE to get MoT'ed, and my fastback missed yet another deadline. It happens quite a lot, the lowest point for me was losing the mojo bigtime and scrapping my beetle instead of welding it. you'll get it back..... probably when you least want it, maybe around christmas or when you've got no cash for paint and parts ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I didn't touch the Locost for about 6 months last year because of a) lack of motivation and b) finding other things I enjoy! Bringing it to CARS was a great motivation for getting it rolling, and being there and having people ask what engine it's gonna have and saying 'I hope to see it finished next year' has really motivated me to finish it! There's always that temptation when the going gets tough just to sell up and buy a 1.8 mondeo LX with 12000 miles, but you will always regret it!

Complete mojo loss here too. I have overdone it with purchases and now can't get anything done because I am literally and figuratively tripping over stuff cars and parts all the time ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Big hugs from my way mate, i know exactly how you feel, my cars have made my cry on more than one occasion The imp hasent been touched since the days approaching CaRS, i do feel bad about this and i have lost the motivation. Soon it shall return, i it will be running for next years festivities! This hot weather dosent bode well for car maintainence or shows, however get a monster hat and the shows become much easier (no sun burn). And this weather does mean some very nice evenings at the shows, BBQ's late into the night, beers flowing, and some very good company! AlistairK, if you come to moparnats, please visit the BX of death and join me for a beer, it would be a pleasure! J

HEY people! whats with all the negative waves? Due to this wounderful dry weather I've managed to do more! The vehicles even stay clean in the week due to no dampness etc. As for vehicles shows I find smaller local shows more fun, entrance fees are only £1 or two quid if exhibiting and sometimes even free. So pack that picnic hamper in to (onto?) the boot and have a jolly good show in the sunshine ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) **They say it's going to rain this weekend ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) **

negative vibes is caused by having to walk past four broken cars to go wait to catch the bus to go to work! doesn't help I'm going through some tough times on the old finances at the moment so cash is really tight. I can't afford to buy a runabout let alone tax or insure it. I did think about that Daewoo which was up for £80 in the Forsales, but the tax, repairs and insurance would be out of budget at the moment. Plus I'd probably have to find something to sell to get the £80. Actually I was cheered up last night by a mates new ride, I'll stick photos up later. Mind you he's having some teething trouble with it himself, so... not sure if that makes me feel better that its not just me or whether it makes me think hell, they're all out to kill us or bankrupt us. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I'm mega phobic about a car falling on me. I think the trans will have to wait until I can get the car in the garage where its on proper concrete floor. If I used slams I'd be continually convinced they'd crack or slip out or tilt or something. Since Pat died I'm really phobic about it. Hopefully K will have got my flex plate on and my Buick ready to collect tomorrow so I can get my independance back again.

Ironically one of the cars i am having trouble storing still has a few months tax and MOT 'til 20th August or something (but no insurance - it is being kept off the road *just*).
I owe the bloke who gave me the car the tax back (though he would be just as happy if I bought it off him).
I am going to go out on a limb - Alistair, if you have somewhere to keep it secure and can get it insured you are welcome to use it 'til the MOT runs out...

![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) dude thats a kind offer. If its pre-1976 (or is it pre-1981 I forget now) it can subsitute on my existing policy. I am hoping the Buick is back on the road later today though so I might be sorted.
