Nice! We're leaving Melbourne on April 14 and hitting Cairns April 20. There will be a decent party in Cairns on arrival and I'm sure there will be a bit of celebrating in Melbourne as well. First day in Melbourne? 14 April arriving from Singapore Might see you leaving from the plane. Will you be doing a blog, or updating as you go on here. Would be great to try and meet up for some RR hospitaility? Will definitely be doing a blog when we get back, i don't expect internet or electricity access to be great enough where we're travelling to be able to do one from the road. What time do you land in Melbourne?

Having seen vids last year of the flash floods in Australia I really shouldn't be surprised at how quickly and how high that water got in just a couple of minutes, but I am. At least it will all dry out okay and if nothing else, you know it'll withstand a bit of wet when you're out on the rally.

I dropped about 5 litres of water out of the sump before oil started coming out today and another litre from the gearbox. The oil will need to be drained again to get the last of the water out, but so far so good

A Big thankyou to the Lucky Coq in Prahran for holding a registration party for us yesterday, we managed to raise $230 in raffle takings alone, and are yet to count up the money from the sausage sizzle, so the day was a great success. I will start a thread elsewhere, but we also got a very generous donation which we are about to begin auctioning off. We have a 1/10th scale 4x4 electric Ford XR8 ute from approximately 2006 signed by the majority of the 2006 V8 supercar team (I will list the signatures tonight). Because of the value of this we are holding an auction on eBay starting today. There is no reserve, the starting bid is $260, which from the research I have done is less than the current retail of one of these chassis, before the signature collection is considered. As the model was donated to us, all proceeds from the auction will go to our fundraising effort supporting the Cancer Council. cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320852841148#ht_500wt_1413

A little update, the Victor has been pushed into daily service this week, and so far so good (aside from spitting a wiper within 2min of leaving home this morning), strengthened the roofrack a little and am testing it with some weight, get some funny looks in suburbia! What's mroe exciting, thanks to the $300 raised through the model auction we are very nearly at our $4k minimum fundraising! Great news since we leave 1 month from tommorow

We definitely did! was an amazing trip, so many surreal experiences and sights. Can you imaine what the day 5 town thought when the following convoy rolled into town:
A Daihatsu Move running on one and a bit cylinders (1 had good compression, the next had 25pounds and the third was disconnected with the sparkplug removed) flat out at 75kph A 1990ish Toyota Camry An early '90s Ford Falcon following closely behind with no headlights or taillights, driving by the Camry's headlights then another Camry billowing a cloud of gray smoke

Congratulations on the successful run. From the pictures, it looks like you were in the oldest car by a country mile.
