I could not see in the dark with the coupe lights, so some (expensive) S2 lamps have been attached- And I put the Audi sport steering wheel on- (the best looking and feeling factory wheel I have encounterd) I did fit the leather from my S2 for a while but for comfort and cold england I prefer my scruffy cloth. I also have a set of 9x16 brock B1 wheels, I was going to fit them, but seems pointless so they are now for sale. They are 4x100 and 4x108 if anyone is interested - PM me. fitted them today - more poke than the other 9s!

Back on the dare wheels. I need the FK coilovers rebuilt for the MOT but this is not as simple as it ought to be.

Dare wheels not that expensive.
Coilovers £400.
80 Avant - pennies.
= sounds like an economical daily plan.

Yes it cost under £1000 with the V6 front and other bits. It does 55mpg easily and it doesn't break down. IMO the best looking cheapest daily I could own. Mind you a standard car is cheap but I would want a lot of money to part with this. Its not easy to find a decent, cheap tdi 80 that's the hard part.

This was out of MOT 5 months ago, it was laid up as a rear coilover eye snapped off. It sat in my garage ever since. I planned to remove the wheels and scrap it. I had my £375 worth out of it and it had a big list of problems.
I was going to replace it with a B5 TDI, but never did, instead I dam near bankrupted myself using my 944 and v6 Audi for work everyday.
What I have done instead is not ideal and it will not look as good as it did before, but it will be going for an MOT tomorrow..
The coilovers were shot to hell, 1 wheel flat spotted, some bushes gone, 1 tyre bald. That is all the cool bits dead. BUT! the car was too close to the floor and was grounding out also the tyres were too small and it was revving its tits off at 75mph (not helping MPG) So, as I said - it isn't going to look as cool now but I have decided to pull apart the Cabriolet to repair this. I don't need the cabrio and it drinks fuel, I love it but the parts are needed to save this, in the name of MPG!
So, its had lots of work, most bushes, RS2 roll bar (polybushed) the Cabrio struts with KONI inserts, KONI rear shocks and 60/40 springs. bonnet mech, projector lighs back on, rear light loom, The brakes off the V6, and the 17" Brock B1s. (pics tomorrow)
Next, The V6 bumper, a new bonnet and some paint and I'm trying to find a leather interior.

Will be glad to see this back on the road mate and it will save you a few quid too.I've just read your cab thread and it says you have decided to just loan the avant the cab bits now lol!The money you save on fuel can go towards new parts!

It got its MOT today. Back on the road, very nearly got weighed in a few months ago, I'm sure it was worth the effort, even if it doesn't look as cool as it did.

Thanks chaps. When i say not as cool, i mean there are lots of S2 reps but this looked different on the 16s with the small bumper. Its higher ride height is a lot more suited for what i use it for. It gets over big speed bumps now and it cruises at 80. Oh and it handles. Back to Poland soon!

Looks better now IMO. Them Brocks suit it so well. Your giving me ideas for my b5 tdi avant. Mine was a bargain too. best 500 quid I ever spent. Brilliant cars these old audi's and cheap as chips.
