Mk1 Golf appreciation

Just posted a mk1 Golf on another thread and it's got me thinking back to my first car, a 1977 Golf LS in rusty silver.
I know VW's have been 'done' to the hilt, but I still reckon done right they look fantastic.

I love my Mk1 Golf soooooooooooo much... Such a shame that for various reasons it has been off the road for a few years... It'll be moving to a new home soon (it'll still be mine!) where I can work on it. I've got a deadline... I'm 40 in 2013 and the Golf will be 30. It has to be done

Funnily enough, my '77 looked the same as this from the back end, and was a 2 door in silver.

Someone had fittted the later rear bumper, but left the front small bumper on it. At the time, I wished I could have afforded a newer mk 1 with the 'big' back lights!
Right now I'm liking the idea of a mk1 with a G60 howl.
I really wish I hadn't seen a lhasa green mk1 sat on coilies and white g60 steels just down the road from my house earlier....

I keep it clean and waxoyled up, clear the drain holes every month, etc... It's going indoors soon so I can pull it apart and check everything over, do the job properly.

The interior is like this at the moment:

I ripped all the ANNOYING immobiliser and alarm system out of it, and found a few other horrors... I'll sort it all out, it's not as bad as it looks
