AND I have come to a conclusion of sorts - I actually have a relatively small pile of parts that still need to be attached - however, the brakes and engine loom large on that list! I had planned to plumb the brakes and then install the axles and engine - This isn't going to work, in part because too many dimensions are too approximate off the car. Soooo I plan to install the axle (not the engine) and the front subframe - then, with the Master Cylinder and servos in place I can plumb it - even if I have to remove it again to get the engine in place. This should get me motivated and moving again! So, tonight, I almost finished with the axle and, sadly had to touch up the paint on the arms - even though I refinished them, they have been batted around enough that paint has scuffed off  At any rate, tonights progress Untitled by John-Peter Smit, on Flickr Untitled by John-Peter Smit, on Flickr Untitled by John-Peter Smit, on Flickr

Hi their. i have been looking at your project i have found little to no information on these cars. i have recently picked up a 1969 envoy epic. i am also in canada i noticed my one of your cars you look to be in ontario as well. I picked up this car has been sitting in a garage for years due to an engine failure and is a solid foundation. looking swap out the drive line. The motor that is in it has sat apart for years and is noting more than scrap as far as i am concerned. i plan on staring to disassemble the car this fall.

Aaannddd ten months later an update. No pics but progress. Managed to finish installing the axle/ shocks/ anti-roll bar tonight. Somewhere in this thread I may have mentioned that when the previous owner brought his GT home, the car proved to be too rusty to restore. He was then able to acquire an SL shell. The shell was then restored and painted before I got the car. All this is great except the holes and brackets for some of the GT bits were not present on the SL. In this case the brackets that attached the anti-roll bar to the body. Managed to make a new bracket and with help find the location, but it managed to intimidate me for a while.
Now brakes. (again you may recall that when I got the car all the brake pieces (servos/ master cylinders etc were there but no brake lines at all, so, no patterns either. BUt, we press on.

My first car was an HB GT albeit with a 2.3 rather than 2.0. Boy was it fun. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

Hey JP Any update? Cheers Matt My heart sinks a little when this thread comes to the fore as I have to reluctantly admit that nothing has happened in months. In my dubious defence it has been the winter of the house - renos - and a really really lousy cold winter. I am determined to get it ready for British Car Day in September. On the other hand, I do have things to report. well, yesterday this happened: I borrowed my Brother in law's van And drove about 5 hours to Ottawa (actually north of Ottawa - so I didn't drop in on Justin) But this happened: and five hours and about 20 hours later, this happened I think that will buff out don't you? This is the actual car in happier days and this the previous owner's wedding day:(he turns 80 in July) And this is not the car - it is another but, they were both racing at Brooklands this particular day it is going to be a very very big project for a very very small car - will keep you posted! oh and 1930 Austin 7 Boat Tail Tourer - I have much to learn!
