Hello everyone, I thought I'd share with you chaps my 'barn find' style car.
My workmate's mother in law had a car sat in the garage for the past 11+ years and my workmate was supposed to do something with it but he never did so after seeing some inspiration Online I thought Fark It, lets start something completely different to my previous cars.
Here's when I went to first take a look at it in their garage.
It was pretty dusty but with just a tiny wipe with a T-shirt the brightwork came up mint.
Then the day finally came where they weren't on holiday And I could arrange Transport for the car to my house.
On the truck
And back at mine still covered in dust and spiders web.
The condition is really bloody good, just a few very small surface rust spots on the body just bigger than A 10 pence piece.
The rear air suspension has A leak but I'm told after 10 mins running it does pump up, but all that will be going soon anyway to make way for some proper Air Ride.
The interior smells pretty old lol I've been opening the sunroof and doors as much as I can to get rid of the stale air smell.
The seats we're all Re-sprung before it was put away and it's like sitting on an old mattress, pretty bouncy!
It's A 2.8 Straight Six with the Manual Transmission.
While it's been sat there I've changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, flushed the coolant and drained the old fourstar out and replaced with new fuel. turned the engine my hand a few times with the plugs out and then put new plugs In and started the beast up! quite surprised how easily it started.

After a while of it running and me and my mates sat In It, It got steamy on the windows and I thought it was inside but it was outside lol I jumped out to Find the rad spewing water out of a crack, so I'm currently in the process of sourcing A new rad for him.
Yes he's a he because the lady made me promise me I'd keep calling him 'Klaus' lol
Just like the American Dad fish lol
So when he's all done, he'll be sent off to the MOT station. IF! he passes he'll be driven Wyliez Autos (hotrod shop) for some belly scraping Air Ride and exhaust relocation as that's the lowest point on the car.
Bought a new steering wheel for him. Just waiting for the boss to turn up before I fit it.
So much nicer than the massive bus steering wheel.
My steering wheel boss adapter turned up and after getting the old wheel off and the new boss on I found out that Nardi Torino steering wheels have a different PCD to MOMO wheels so I've ordered an adapter fom eBay which should be here soon.
So today I polished up some more brightwork with the amazing stuff that is Meguiars Metal Polish. Got round to the front and the old front grille was showing it's age with the plastic feeling brittle and the colour an old faded grey colour.
So whipped it out and got a few coats of new satin dark grey on it and it looks really good. The satin finish makes it look much more of a factory finish.
Sorry for the crappy phone pictures, I'll take some with my DSLR soon.
Hopefully my front spoiler should turn up this week too!
New radiator turned up.
So had to fit it there and then!
Went pretty smoothly really.
Old and new:
Fitted in:
Fired it up and had to do a cheeky little drive to make sure it could actually move under his own steam

After I pulled it up I saw lots of water dripping down and looked to find this
Water coming from the water pump How annoying. New one will be priced up tomorrow!
Couple of random shots.
Newly painted grille
Can't wait to see it dumpt!
Well the other day I came home to find some parcels waiting for me (always gets me excited!) and first of all it was a new water pump.
After taking the old one off, I found I didn't really need a new one but while it was off I thought what the hell and whacked a new one on.
The actual leak was coming from the coolant housing where it bolts to the block, the gasket had given up. Quick trip to the local Mercedes dealer and 85 pence later I had the gasket I needed!
Battled on in the rain, and fitted it back together.
You can see here new pump and gasket and also the smaller coolant housing gasket just poking out down the left hand side.
The bottom pulley had to come off also as the lower bolts we're covered up by it. VERY annoying but got on with it.
Filled the system with water and watched for leaks. Hurrah! No leaks and one happy chappy!
Next up my steering wheel adaptor came.
The Boss I'd bought had only MOMO wheel PCD and Nardi wheels have a slightly larger PCD so this adapter came from the states. Pretty pricey but does the job.
And the Nardi Torino wheel fitted. Sooo much nicer than the massive standard wheel!
Also my front lip arrived! Looks pretty cool and is pretty good quality and fit.
Just needs painting up and fitting. Gonna leave it to very last after the Air ride Ect as it's not that important and I'm not sure if I'm gonna run with it yet.
Here's how it looks anyways.
Oh and a new sticker
Chrome one's are tasty!
Today I drove down to Beaulieu to the Vintage Tyre Centre and bought some Atlas white wall trims.
Finally worked out the nack of getting them on and I'm really pleased how they came out, gives it even more of an old skool vibe! Should look sweet slam dunked on them!
Took some newer shots of the Merc, Enjoy!
Seats laid flat - Plenty of room to plough the missus in the back
