Hi! These engines are the best V6's Ford ever made You only have to look at the valve clearence, if not convertet to lead free, and the timing gear. My 2,8 in my P5 has got over 250000Km on the clock and still made 155BHP on the rollers.....no rattles or blue smoke etc. I think it's a 108BHP,engine code YYB or 3 The 125 SHC has code 4 The problems with the gearshift....there are rubber-bushes on the selector rod's.They wear out or are simply dissapeared.... New ones you can buy at MOTOMOBIL.com Stay with that great engine!

Yes I plan to stick with the original engine as it really does feel good but just needing some fetteling really. The previous owner gave me the details for MOTOMOBIL.com.......it really looks like a treasure chest for owners of Taunus'. The previous owner had bought some bits from them and was very impressed with the service! Hopefully the gear selection will be something as simple as that or perhaps related to the clutch as it was recently fitted with one from a 2.8 Capri and, although it works, it may need some adjusting........hopefully all will become clear over the coming wk's!

I've had a major brush with classic fast Fords for many years, still plenty of them in the family, but i'm ashamed to say i've never seen one of those! Love MK2 and MK3 Cortinas, plus the latter's sister Taunus, so you can imagine i'm just in awe of that.
Dash makes it look like a RHD conversion would be a sunday afternoon job!

Don't think my hubs have been modified as the stud pattern is slightly different and the holes have been slightly enlarged to fit- not ideal but they're tight with no vibration so...... Plus they suit it so well imo!

The code stamped into the right hand side of block is 'Ju30203' and this is again stamped into the three identification plates on the slam panel with a prefix of 'GA41'. Can you translate that for me Totti?

Hi! The engine code is on the driver side. It's very small....you have to look maybe twice.
On the side from the block at the front left bank...
Cheers

Don't think I've ever seen one of those before- looks ace, colour and wheels suit it down to the ground.

The bad news today is that the wheels are going to have to go! Because they're not the exact same stud pattern the fronts have had a small adjustment to each hole to get them to fit but this is putting too much uneven pressure on the nuts and starting to effect the studs....... It may run ok for years as yet but i won't take the risk and i don't want the worry! So two things now.....to sell these wheels, re-shod the original's for now and more importantly, and with greater difficulty i need to know what the fitment is and hope there are some suitable, good looking rims out there that'll not only fit.....but have the same presence as these because i really want to keep the overall feel as it is...... MMmmmmm.........

The pattern is 5x112.....so there is no worry to find some wheels.
What's about banded OEM Wheels......?
The Chevy wheels are 5x114.....
Cheers

I knew i could rely on you Banded oem's had crossed my mind......need to look at all my options. On a plus though we sorted the suspension out today and she's now booked in for a transmission specialist to look over and see if any uk parts can be used to sort the 'looseness' or whether i need to look to your part of the world for replacement parts......I'll let you know. Thank's again!

Joo! Look at these on my mate's 26m Coupe.... A fantastic car! cheers Yeah i like them mate! Are they originals.....banded? Something deep dish, maybe split rims agian.....retro american look......something old skool. I'm having a job to find ones online that have the right feel. Retro Ford rims are available in uk but not many look the way i'd want but they also have four stud patterns only. There's a mail order company here that'll band my originals but i'd really want to talk to them face to face but they are too far away..... I'll carry on with my home work!

Looks like the decision has been made.......Nothing new, in that fittment suits the car imo so....... The original 14's are off to be banded at bandedsteels.co.uk Looking at clearance and drivability, but wanting it to still look 'beefy'- adding 1" bands to the front and 3" bands on the rear for that staggered look. The fronts will be a little tucked under still but i don't want to cause any scrubbing with it being lowered and, without PAS i don't want to make manovering it a pain in the either. After fitting i'll see how it feels and then poss add a spacer for some fine adjustment. rims will end ud 7" up front and 9" on the back with 175/185 and 205/215/225 tyres so the rears will be stretched a bit but i like that look and it'll give even more clearance if i need it! Finished articles will be powder coated silver with the centres in a darker grey and the orginal ornimental hub caps will be refitted and chrome nuts around them.......in my mind i think it's going to look great and maybe a little more authentic again rather than the present US style??!! Ps The Chevey split rims will be coming up for sale so if anyone's interested.........PM me Cheers
