Plain awesome. I really respect guys rollin this low without hydros, i'd be constalntly worried of gettin stuck somewhere and make a dive through the windshield LOL I remember gettin stuck with my taunus when it was on hacked coils, but then again those have a lot of curse word hangin below the floor..
Mega thumbs up!

I always thought my Imps were low until i saw this in N. Wales a few years ago , it truly is in the weeds. No piccys of mine as cluttering up other peoples thread with other peoples cars isnt fair.

Surprisingly Russ that's not the only flatmobile imp, there's a batmobile inspired jet powered imp thing aswell! To be honest at first I had that mentality then 2 years on I'm that used to hitting things it doesn't really bother me unless something stops working I once drove into the carpark at work (the same carpark I'd driven into for a year!) must have hit a lump at an odd angle and smashed the corner of the gearbox casing, unfortunately it knocked the adjuster bolts out aswell so couldn't select any gears! (the bolt on the front edge of the box is supposed to be flush with the bottom of the box Yep, that's knackered. . . . Anywhoo done a little bit more, as some of you will know Imps suffer from the dreaded donut/rotoflex/drive coupling disease and the standard imp items (and even the lotus replacements) are plain rubbish for any low imp. I've been running around with bmw 3 series propershaft couplings on instead which handle the angles far better. Unfortunately not well enough so seen as I'm doing this properly, I cut a hole here and there so I could raise the box so the output/driveshafts are back in their original horizontal position Cutty Cutty roughly Wasn't neat enough, cut some more Engine crossmember no longer fit as the crank pulley got in the way, nay problem just made a hanger instead like the race imps. One advantage of a light engine! Covering over the big hole Spring cup repaired/reinforced/tied in with new frame, just the other side to tackle next Pretty much where it's upto at the moment, if/when I remember and have updates I'll bob them on Ash

Thanks Col, I daresay the car may still be a bit unfinished on the top half/interior at national. Rolled it onto the other side and poked around to be greeted by this!! At least it's not really much more than I cut off the other side anyway. The sill outer wasn't even welded to the inner it just folded upwards! Just goes to show eh? That was the side that looked strongest when I bought the car so apart from a quick check haven't ever welded it up before. Cutting it a little close for a month and a bit when the engine isn't even put together yet either

Well I didn't get the car done for the august imp national at perth, sort of glad as I don't have to rush bits now. Anyhow: Floor ribs/plates/captive nuts full shenanigans on Original footwell floor completely cut out and replaced with solid 3mm steel skid plate, hopefully wont dint like the original! Gearbox cover made/seams and spring tops reinforced with 3mm plate Front/Rear suspension back on to check things still fit, slight adjustment to the steering shaft but apart from that all okay, front springs not all the way down otherwise it just sits on the floor completed the sill and front arch but no pics of this side Who says an 8j doesn't fit the front of an imp! Nothing much else done, not finished the front frame or passenger side front arch yet!

Holy thread revival! Completely forgot about this thread as I don't visit RR much but found my car via google images and got here again I still have the white Imp, still welding and fabricating most of the bodywork as nothing would fit with standard panels. Bar the roof and doors everything has received some sort of change now! It's taking far longer than expected as I just don't have the time to crack on properly but get bits done every now and then. It's actually still got functional suspension albeit limited travel and just sits on coilovers upfront and spring/shocks at the rear. I still fully intend it being static and daily driven once complete My daily is now another imp which a few people may know (mainly from when I took it to the retro show at santa pod!) I've raised it again at the moment just for general ease and maintenance! Covered 2k in 2 months with little more than a loose alternator dash wire troublewise, who says classics can't be reliable Cheers Rob for the pic again!

Cheers guys, the beige one seems to look a different colour in every photo I've taken! Gurns- the van is sat on the drive completely stripped of bits, its sorned but will be off to the scrapyard at some point. After rechecking the iva/sva or whatever the test is called these days it would've been impossible to keep the identity I think I may have said it before somewhere but the van was properly rotten everywhere, crossmember welded to the body, cover sills with no inners at all etc!
