Makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for the translation DW. I did Google ' Dipen' but the results didn't seem relevant. Could you do this one for me please: Thats a little callas! sorry I seem to have offended somebody but I think mods should sumat like The misspelling of callous was simple enough, but what about the next bit...who has he offended? What about the mods? I have plenty of understanding for people with different levels of skill in different areas (I bet he's better at welding than I am at grammar) but when it gets to the point that I've spent about twenty minutes trying to work out what is actually being said and I'm still none the wiser I don't think it's wrong to say something? Tell me about it! He then goes on to say... Are personel attacks allowed on the forum. Firstly, whose personnel are under attack? I presume he meant personal, but I fail to see where anyone was even referring to him in any context. I think he was just a confused, illiterate little guy...

Dye penetrant is a recognised non destructive testing technique, as is Magnetic Particle Inspection. Maybe a bit over the top if you are capable of producing the kind of work Dez does, I admit, but if you intend selling them to Joe Public (or even other board members) then you really need to be thinking about product liability. A bit of crack testing is the least you should consider. In today's litigious society this man speaks the truth. there seem to be less "people who don't know their ass from their elbow but want to be cool and retro" about in the scene now but some folks know what they are getting into and some people don't and those are the ones will turn round and bite you if something did go wrong.

As noted by Dez, bragging rights only...? Indeed, but isn't that the point of 99% of what we do 99% of the time LOL

Something i'd love to see, for extra ridiculous-ness value, is 8 spoke steel wellers/weller style wheels made into splits!

I'm not judging the guy at all.
1. I wanted to know about the engineering.
2. I saw the words 'mods should sumat' (moderators should do something?), 'offended' and 'personal (I worked that out!) attacks' and figured I had a role to play as a moderator.

they are pretty sweet wheels, although I'd like to see them done in steel just to confuse everyone, would be pointless but quite funny to see a split 3 piece steelie ;D

You are right, he said one thing, we heard something else, this is how wars get started! Peace, love and understanding is what we need. My concern was that, as a guest he made a point that may or may not be valid. He sounds like he knows a bit about the subject, so I would have liked to see this opinion discussed to some sort of conclusion. Started off well enough, but the tone soon became a bit frosty, with overtones of ridicule. I don't consider myself to be particularly paranoid, but I can see why bondy34 would feel that he was being "ganged up on". Just my opinion. The wheels do look good though don't they? ps Regarding point 2, I read "mods" as modifications, you read it as moderators, I hope for the sake of my arguement that I was right Regards, DW

Due to the confusion and misunderstanding I think it would be a nice gesture if he was invited back. Anyway back to wheels.... they remind me of these by Carl a 10" mini wheel 'split'. I think they look fantastic. www.force-racing.co.uk/wheels-10/

ps Regarding point 2, I read "mods" as modifications, I'd allowed for that but it still didn't make sense. Surely there must be a point where someone being unable to put a point across (even if it is valid) is more their problem than ours. As you can see, I'm struggling here. As far as I can tell there's been no misunderstanding (misunderstanding and not understanding are not the same) and no wars started. No need for anyone to feel picked on or to be apologised to. He wasn't sufficiently proficient with written English to make sense to the people he was trying to communicate with and then he left.

If he wanted to come back, I'm sure we would accept him, bad grammar and all. The wheels though, aren't they fabulous?. They look like they belong on a mid 60's Chevrolet, and those dog dish hub caps are just the dog's ... dish! Opel seemed to follow the Detroit line a bit more closely than Vauxhall in those days, the Diplomat was even offered with a small block V8 in it. Could you imagine a factory built 327 Cresta? Off into the realms of fantasy again, sorry 'bout that.

No doubt on the wheels. If you've got rims like that I don't care how good you are at spelling.

As nice as some of them are, and as much as i love the idea (I'm usually well up for whacky things like this...) I'm not so keen on those opel rekord ones above^^ Lots of gold bolts around the edge, just make it look OTT in a blingy kind of way... I like split wheels, but generally they have complex centre designs which offset the visual complexity given by lots of little bolts. Steel wheels look great because they're simple and smooth like these: ^^ Nice and smooth, as those Opel wheels would have been pre-splitting. The golf ones though, i think look better split because they're quite boxy... Dunno, maybe just me. Hopefully I put my point across adequately
