Just wondered if any one knows how i can go about finding out how many of a certain car are left on the road? Is there a site I can go to?  |

There's a piece about this in in this morning's 'Metro'.... Here's some stats: Morris Marina (71-80) 807,000 sold - 745 still on the road Cortina Mk4/5 (76-82) 1065682 sold - 2010 still going Renault 18 (79-86) 131241 sold - 317 left Renault 5 S1 (72-83) 216199 sold - 499 left Skoda Estelle (77-92) 102105 sold - 612 left Cavalier Mk2 (81-89) 807624 sold - 6343 remaining Metro (80-94) 1370000 sold - 21468 left (about 21467 too many  ) Montego (84-95) 436000 sold - 8988 remaining Maestro (83-95) 440000 sold - 11574 left Uno Mk1 (83-89) 190000 sold - 5179 remaining. Interestingly over a quarter of all K10 micra's sold are still road-registered, and best surviavl rate is of the Porsche 924 (76-87) of which 3534 out of 5252 are still out there. Oh and the 1952-55 Bentley R-type continental... of 102 sold in the UK, only 2 are unaccounted for! Interesting reading! |

I find it amazing that you've actually managed to extract interesting information From the 'metro' rag.
Its high time that this information was published for all to see, it makes excellent toilet reading.

If those figures are correct, that is a worrying amount of MK 4/5 Cortinas left on the road, to think how many get bangered every week it wont be long till theyve all had it.
As for early Micras, it has to be said they have survived well, theres still loads on the road, they're very reliable cars. I still see as many old micras as i do any new car TBH.

Don't e-mail, phone the dvla the switchboard shoul dgive you the umber of they guy who's job this is. If you speak to him you need to cobble together a "reasonable excuse" for knowing, ie model registrar for club, journo doing article etc - they don't check though.
Once you've spoken to the guy he normally comes through. His phone number is on this site somewher in a post I made about this but searching here is not easy!

Theres not many tinas bangered anymore, the average 2 litre meeting wont have any cortinas at all. They were very popular when they were a "current" car though.

Out of 22,941 Dolomite Sprints made, only about 400-500 are still registered to the DVLA, although there may be more in hiding. Such a low survival rate, what, 2% maybe? |
