Also known as a Dacia Sport - the latest issue of Practical Classics has one in - Sam Glover brought one back from Romania. Boasts a mighty 1397cc and 65bhp. Page 30 for those wishing to avail themselves of WH Smith's reading rooms.
Amazing, never seen anything of these before! It really transforms the look of the R12 and looks like a thorough job with the lengthened doors & lowered roofline making it a coupe over a 2-dr sedan. Do one as an R12 Gordini coupe! Still like the R15 as Renault's proper coupe though.
I went to northern Romania in 2003, this is a picture outside our 'hotel'. Lets play spot the Dacia, LOL
At that point 80% of the cars were Dacia, though I bet things have changed somewhat now. There were lines and lines of Dacia 1300's with just the odd nova or supeRnova amongst. Other brands were about but not common. Anyhow I don't remember seeing this 2dr coupe at all.
As pointed out Googlefu is weak with this one...
Rough but wheels.
Tidier but pretty plain.
Not a 2dr coupe but found this while looking and had to share, thats a good look right...
the Dacia and the southamerican equivalent Ford Corcel were introduced before the R12 was launched
Hadn't realised that - both Dacia and R12 debuted at the Paris Motor show in 1969 according to the net. Must have been a tad confusing. Had presumed that it had been a Fiat-Lada here's our old tooling stylee arrangement, particularly as they only stopped making tham in 2004. That's some model life!
Another reason why this site is great - every day's a retro school day!
