Here's my Swift gti powered mini project. I completed the build once and then decided I wasn't happy with the way things were done so I've stripped it completely and started again. This time with track action in mind. I appeared in the "On The Job" section of Mini Magazine this month too Heres a rough spec for now: Homemade tubular subframe Stock G13B bottom end and head F17 diesel box with cable shifter GSXR throttle bodies Megasquirt Split Exactions Yoko A032's Fully adjustable tie bars etc Ali race tank Flat boot floor Full weld in cage Fully cut out steel doors Tubbed arches Rear valance removed Mk2 escort pedal box Gaz adjustable shocks Cobra Monaco S' Parts: The engine will be a little lower and will sit slightly more upright. Engine mounts are yet to be made but it will sit under the standard length front. Shell: Progress is very slow as I'm at Uni but I have been collecting bits and pieces to help me along the way. This is where I am at the moment but I don't have photo's of everything. Those are just some recent pictures. Thats all for now folks.

Someone from another mini forum had a small batch ordered in from America so I nabbed one when I had the chance!

Been doing a couple of bits whilst at uni. Also had this and a little flange knocked up for £80 which I thought was quite reasonable: Courtesy of David Dickerson at www.customworkshop.co.uk/

Some actual progress and not "things I've bought" Blasted and sprayed my wheels at uni: Some of the old paint was real tough! Despite costing me £40 in materials, it was still cheaper than any quotes to get the professionally blasted and painted. Will return tomorrow to laquer them.

Looking good, nice to see some more of this, as I've only caught the odd little bits on Trials-Forum. What is it you're doing at uni again? I'm guessing you didn't need the drawings of the mini suspension in the end? (Or was I just too slow replying, sorry )

Thats alright Robin. I'm developing composite wheels and when I asked, I was being organised but to be honest, I'm not at the stage of needed them yet.

Very very nice, I do love 10" splits, the need for 13s is the one thing I don't like about my build.
That's an impressive weight! any idea how much they come in at with the lips and bolts, can't be over 3.5kg surely? I thought the compomotives I want to run were seriously light, and I'm looking at 4.85 and 5.2kg for them!

I didn't have the lips or bolts with me at the time and I don't have anything to weigh them with at home. Was curious myself but yea I can't see them weighing more than 1kg.

Run out of money for this month so no new parts. However I did manage this mammoth task: I drilled 3 small holes and one big one! That's it for a while until payday comes round

Couple more goodies: On a slight quest for lightness, my wallet is slowly becoming lighter too!

Right, some actual assembly! Managed to hunt down a guy on ebay who had genuine timken rear wheel bearings and grease caps (everywhere seems to be sold out) for £15 a side! So with that, I built up my rear hubs: With a drum: It looks like there won't be enough thread for my wheels and nuts but the studs aren't pulled through fully yet. They were just tapped in with hammer. That's all for now, but I'm sure I'll find some other little bits to do instead of my dissertation.
