This thread is well over due an update.
Sorry all this is going to be a big one...
-------------------------------------- 07 March
Yooooo,
Been slightly busy haha.
Got the old RTA's off anf the new injection handbrake cables on this weekend was a PITA but as is life...
Off they go
.
Also bought a 5zigen border 304. Needs some welding but should suffice for a while. Its very light!
Also BRAKES!
My Wilwoods finally arrived 8)
They are HUGE. 282 MG discs, with midilite calipers and ferodo ds2500 pads
.
To accompany the brakes at the front i also bought an 260mm MG ZS upgrade for the rear to keep the bias nice. Bought brand new mintex pads and discs for these. Also awaiting a 1 inch MC.
old 240s vs 260s
One trailing arm ready to roll.
Although much to my dismay the Enkeis i bought don't fit over them  Which is total curse word as i just got my AD08s mounted to them this evening. Not all is lost as my spare poo wheels do fit over them which i didn't think was ever going to happen.
However i really don't think i am going to be able to get everything on and sorted for the 4G dyno meet which is a big shame as i was really looking forward to taking it down.
Enjoy.
----------------------------- 10 March
Evening all,
Got a few bits done over the weekend, its starting to come together. Very pleased with this weekend endeavours.
First off master cylinder and servo swap. Tis off an Mb6. Was a pain in the ass to do as the 4 nuts are under the dash.
BOOM. Its so large, its fouls on the prop ever so slightly but shall try to ammend this when i swap the prop valve.
Also got the Rear arms assembled and installed
.
Opted for MG ZS 260mm rear brakes to keep the bias in check with the wilwoods up front.
Finally installed the Goodridge braided lines that have been in my bedroom for god knows how long
Finally got the rear on the floor with the Enkeis and AD08s. I couldn't be happier with how the enkei's look!
Rear brakes look so awesome behing the enkeis.
Also had a play with spacers today, as the enkeis do not clear the wilwoods. This is with a 25mm bolt on jobby.
A bit excessive! However i think if i were to put it on the ground it would be as bad. I am going to opt for 20mm bolt on spacers and getting the arches rolled at the front, as this will ensure clearance and widen the track at the front.
If i can make steady progress in the evenings after work i should have the car done by the dyno meet.
Enjoy.

Hello,
Superforma 20mm spacers arrived today. These are for the fronts to clear the brakes. Will be getting the arches rolled aswell to provide clearance.
Need to cut a few mm of my studs though -_- not a massive fan of cutting threads as there is no good way to do it. But as is life.
Couldn;t help myself, mocked the spacer, discs and wheels up
.
Enjoy lee.

Evening all,
Got a few bits done to the civic today as the weather was good for a few hours. Not enough mind.
Got both sides built up with camber arms had to shortened the studs on the hubs and fitted the Hel brake lines in preparation for fitting the brakes tomorrow.
Had a problem with how the lines entered the Wilwood calipers a few weeks back as it put them at some acute angles and fouled on the suspension fork on full lock. Some 1/8NPT to -3an 90 degree fittings should hopefully sort that.
Also got swapped my prop valve and M/C in today. The M/C required the old union fitting being fitted so i had to make a new line. The prop is a 30/40 item as the seller sent me the incorrect item after waiting for it for 11 days but thats a different story.
My mate Sam with JoeF's old civic popped over to lend a hand, so took a quick snap as he has my old wheels.
Tomorrow if weather permits i will get the brakes on, get them bled and hopefully get it aligned after checking a few things to do with the cambers bits.
Would like to get the arches rolled and exhaust sorted but that may have to wait untill next week.
Enjoy,
Lee

Afternoon,
I was a hero and braved the weathers this afternoon and finally got the car on the ground! So pleased with how it looks.
First of all got the Wilwoods fitted with the spacers aswell.
They fill the wheels extremely well.
Also got the chance to weigh the enkeis, which i was pleasantly surprise weighing in at a mere 14.9Kg. So a 100 grams lighter than the my rotas were and 400grams heavier than the NS2's with low treaded slicks. Could be the tyres mind none the less i am glad i'm not adding substantial weight.
Boom back on the floor!
Gunna have trouble hiding these wheels though, i have bought and arch roller to help i shall be dialing in some camber to.
Just a few things to sort now, need a hose adapter for the brake lines again as the 90 degree piece hasn't succumbed my problem. Once i sort that hopefully monday i shall get the brakes bled, get it aligned and roll the arches as and when i can. then i will sort the 5zigen out, and driving the curse word thing
I cannot wait would be an understatement. So close now.
Enjoy,
Lee

YOOOOO,
She is back! Finally got her sorted today after a thousand and one hindrances in the last few weeks.
Got the brakes bled which took a LONG time. Rolled the arches as i bought an arch roller, and got it aligned earlier this morning. Opted for 2 degrees of camber all round and 0 toe.
The car feels better than ever, its unbelievably flat through the corners, turn in feels awesome and the brakes are good, but not perfect think may need a bit of bedding as initial bite is very vague, however when leaning on them its awesome and rearranges some organs
curse word picture but this is the rolled arches, unfortunately no matte how much heat i used or how patient i was i couldn't help but crack the paint. However that and the camber has gained reasonable clearance. So they only scrape a little over big bumps
. The rears on the other hand are terrible and definitely need rolling. Going round a long swept corner at 55mph had the nearside tyre smelling pretty bad.
Couldn't quite tuck the front tyres but as is life.
Here she is Ready to roll.
I am so pleased it has all panned out. Last thing left now is to put the 5zigen on, roll the rear arches and sort some coating for the surface rust. Hopefully get the 5zigen sorted next week.
Then its gunna get driven! So things will get a little quiet here.
Hopefully hit a few trackdays in the summer and towards the end get the d16a9 in with the dellortos.
Enjoy,
Lee.
-------------------------------- 08 April
Evening all,
This update is something typical of me and something that if you have following the build from the start you will know, i have never been able to decide on what to do with the engine, this time round i have conjured up another possibility.
Dellorto DHLA 40s...
They are pretty gummed up as fuel has clearly been left in them when they were put into storage.
Also due to being the earlier DHLA the idle screws are inside a tower of which can cause the following...This was probably cause by the last owner using the wrong size screw driver. As they were a little stuck, not sure what to do about this as of yet, as it does spin(albeit not overly free).
The plan is to get a D14 manifold and bung them on and see what figures they make with a little tuning. Fortunately and unfortunately they are the emissions type DHLA40H off of an Alfa romeo giulietta meaning that tuning is limited some what but not entirely. However they have a take off for a vac advance dizzy and due to them being slightly more suited to a sporty road engine rather than a border line race engine they will be suited to the D14 quite well and give me better driveability and MPG than the universal performance 40s would.
Worst comes to worst they are not as good as i first thought and i bung the d16a9 in with the 45s, learn from the experience and increase my jet, choke and venturi collection.
Enjoy lee.

Cheers gents means alot
.
The ferodos seem like a good pad! Although i have yet to get them really warm. I will bare that in mind! Pad changes are so easy on the dynalite its awesome.
Right got a an update
.
5zigen got a bit of welding done today and fitted
Even got an extra hanger welded to the chassis as the 304s come with a hanger where the isn;t one on the chassis. So i have it sitting perfect, a touch below the lip. I have noticed that some of them droop down quite alot, so shall make the assumption that others have left this hanger off...
Also got a quick picture of the difference in track between front and rear, looks so aggressive, although the front tyres rub a little too much atm, so arches need flaring further.
Also got a little video,
Enjoy.
----------------------------------------- 08 May
Yo,
Been playing around recently trying to get the wheels to stop rubbing over any imperfection in the road! i think i have sorted it, well without a passenger anyway, i am yet to have one since the mods.
First of all though i managed to get the stuck idle jet out of the 40s...Used a dremel to cut a new slot on it
Pretty curse word mangeled, was lucky to get it out if i am honest. Something isn't quite right with the hole as an intact idle jet gets very tight in the threads where it should be loose.
Then curse word got real...
As you can see the wings have been taking a beating, i later cut that top tab off as it was the main cause to my problems.
I also did this...
Spaced the wing out from the chassis about 10mm using M6 penny washers and new hex bolts that use a smaller head. Seems to have cleared my rubbing problem a treat, had to trim my arch liners a little mind.
It has also given me some funny panel gaps as you could only imagine, but its functional and its quite clear what i have achieved by doing it, also it probably relieves some of the turbulence that builds up in the arches but thats just being anal.
Its going to J fest this weekend which i am looking forward to, hoping the weathers good.
Enjoy.
-------------------------------- 23 June
Yoooo,
Got an update. Unfortunately/fortunately craig(Drcunz) sold his GL, so like a top vulture i enquired about the SOHC DCOE manifold.
Fortunately for me the new owner wasn;t interested so i now have a SOHC and DOHC D-series manifold for the dellortos.
I plan to bung them on the D14 when funds allow, but i plan alot of things and they never happen/change so i will see how it pans outs.
Looks like an awesome piece of kit, and craig sorted it for an awesome price. Thanks once again.
Lee.
----------------------------- 24 June
Had a little tinker this evening with the 45s and the SOHC mani mainly to check fitment and drool out how awesome they look.
Fortunately they look curse word brilliant as usual...
Unfortunately the manifold fouls a few bits were the manufacturer has tried to skimp on machining excess material off. I may be ghetto and grind it down when necessary, could do a slightly more proper job and get on the mill at work, or give someone the appropriate gaskets and ask them to CNC the shape of the carbs so there is no excess material left. Its likely to be a while untill i fit them so i have plenty of time to decide.
Enjoy Lee.
