Richardtk, I have the original wheels from your car! I bought the 300CE24 from Paul a couple of years ago and he'd put the SLK rims on it. They're a bit big and fat for the W124 so I've got hold of some 15s to put on it. Once I've sorted out tyres for the new rims the SLK ones are coming off so if you're interested in re-uniting them with the car, drop me a PM. Wheelsreunited, might be a website in that ;D

Those aren't the originals - they're from something else, I think - but if those Merc rims are staggered and/or appropriate offsets I'd be interested in them. Paul's been looking to see if he has the wheels the SLK is wearing in the older pics on the thread, but I believe it's coming on the aftermarket wheels that are a tad narrow for the back.

They're staggered, and I'm sure they were on the SLK at some point, might have remembered wrong though.
Just checked the old For Sale Thread and these rims are from a CLK.
They're 16" and wearing 215/55/16s on the front and 225/50s on the back, all in all a bit massive for the W124!

Oooh. If they're right they'd suit my little SLK rather nicely - fronts should be 16 x 7J ET37 with 205/55/16, rears 16 x 8J ET30 with 225/50/16 it seems.
I'm pretty sure the wheels in the original advert are standard SLK ones, but those wheels would suit it if they're the right offsets. Obviously I can change the tyres!
Looks like CLK alloys are the right offset for the front, but 6mm out for the back (ET36).

For me, this has perfect stance without being too low...

Suits the front arches nicely there, they look like they're sort of moulded to the wheel.

Here comes the overboard idea. Carrera panamericana homage -A pair of blue vinyls and some leather straps -One of these wheels -"Not real" knock offs Prince of the road Wanna be king? Smooth down the bumpers, remove foglights, clear covers on the front lights and round inserts from a mk1 inside, round light cluster in the back produced with fiberglass and some fiat coupe lights, vertical inserts on a knotted(?) chrome mesh in the front grill.

Loooooooool! Just as I'd decided against getting an SLK and getting an older, wider, shoulder pad spec SL R129 this bloody thread comes back into fashion!! I'm torn now though as some fantastic examples have come up here as mentioned the front arches do really make themselves known when you bring some lows to the party.... Oh god I was sold on living my Miami dynasty dream with an SL but now..... Argh!! Please please don't anyone photoshop some solid, dirty, JDM spec wheels onto an SLK... for that really would be the final straw please don't.... someone with photoshop skills do that..... oh no...... just don't ....

If you've got the budget for an R129, particularly with the M119 V8 (personally I say go for '97/98 registered models, and look for the M119 32V V8, but 5-speed box. And panoramic roof) then do not stop, go straight to the seller and grab it. They aren't fun to drive in a remotely "lively" fashion but they are fantastic cars, beautifully made and a proper Mercedes. And worth pennies at the moment (though not quite so little that they're competing with the SLK).
