it was done as someone said it couldn't be done. just becuase its a old aircooled engine don't mean it has less power than the engine it came with. cant remember what power plant it has at the moment but a its pretty east to get 200bhp form a N/A beetle engine and 600bhp is not unheared of for big turbo motors. its not my cup of tea but thats not the point, its a orsum car.

200bhp vw flat four easy? Yeah if you've got 10 grand plus spare.
Those photos and exhaust are much better.

I've liked the car since the first "WTF!", though I've always wondered what's the weight penalty of the MK3 shell over the original (T3?) shell. I suppose there are plenty of lightweight perspex and fibreglass racing bits and bobs out there. @dbiz: tomarayascream.com/

I don't think they had any intentions of going fast lol. Plus the slower it is the more chance people have to look at it.

I love that, love the thought process behind it, love the execution, the engineering and finish look spot on.
But, and its a biggie, i hate the fact that its blatently flaunting the rules (assuming its actually registered as a golf on a k plate). Its goning to do no-one any favours when relatively big companies just completely ignore the law. I know most people (with the notable exception of the ACE boys and girls) are happy enough to bury thier heads in the sand and belive that things like this 'will make it easier to prove its ok' but in the long run all this is going to help do is prove to the powers that be that the current system isnt working...... that cannot be a good thing for any of us!!

I dislike rattly old beetle engines ( ) as much as anyone but thats smashing! Original photos were giving me a headache I have to say. Just take pics and don't mess about with them! The photos are not the art, the cars are!

As you say yourself, you are making an assumption though. It could easily be a Mexican beetle on a K plate that has been rebodied. Let's not play Judge Judy and executioner

Let's not play Judge Judy and executioner Except for the small issues of it not being a Mexican beetle that was used as a base, and that registration plate belonging to a golf..... Not in any way a pop at you or anyone else....

Best thing about this is that at first, you don't even realise it's a Beetle under there, the wheel choice and stock looks (apart from the exhaust, of course... and the noise when it's running) is enough to fool the casual observer into thinking it's a very low, big-wheeled old Golf.
Ticks a lot of boxes for me in both guises posted above and the sticky-out exhaust just makes it look all the more like a little fat puppy, in a good way. I think I prefer it in the grey with the (scala?) wheels over the white with the Fuchs, it's sneakier and doesn't give it's air-cooled basis away too easily.
My favourite aspect has to be the 'what if' of Beetle evolution it displays.

come back Bizzle........it's not you, it's us.......dude keep em coming some of them polarise opinion, some are down right successful and others sink without comment. The variety keeps it fresh, the hard work is appreciated and respected.

I rather like the exhaust actually, I think it all kind of builds up; at first glance it could just be a very tidy-looking low MkIII on some very tasty wheels, but then you see the stinger and it hints at something interesting going on. And sure enough, it's about as interesting as a MkIII gets.
And they've finally found a solution to the rear wheel moving forward in the arch when you lower a MkIII/IV ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
