Evening all I've been a lurker here for ages, replying where I could help out but seeing as my daily was too modern for you guys I never bothered with a readers ride thread. Well today all that changed! A last minute ebay find meant a train journey to bristol to collect my new car. This is where I need your help, I cant find anything to get it closer to the terra firma. Does anyone know where I can buy a suspension kit from? Or even what else might fit? Have some pics as a thank you

Looks like a clean one. Anything that works on the RWD Toyota's should work on a FWD one with the added benefit that it won't have been done before.

So the ae86 bits should be a go-go! excellent news I think what he's suggesting is that any look that works on a RWD Toyota will work on an FWD, not necessarily that the parts will Springs might swap over from model to model but the front struts will almost certainly be different from RWD to FWD.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Ah curse word, I thought it was going too easily. Time to start digging a little deeper. I can find some modified saloons via google but havent found any details as to what has been used and from where.
I've found a spring kit but its only -30mm which we all know isnt acceptable

Hey mate - look for parts for the ae86. They were available as a twin cam which had 4 wheel discs and some other goodies. You will probably have more luck finding suspension gear listed under the ae82 model number, and there are forums such as twincam.org and toymods.net.au (both Australian) that should have some good info for you.

Firstly may I congratulate you on an excellent purchase, very cool car This is where I need your help, I cant find anything to get it closer to the terra firma. Job done! On a more serious note cut spring aren't the devils work and may well give you the ride height your after. As long as its done carefully and methodically it's fine. Plenty of RR regulars have run many, many cars on chopped spring, including myself.

Argh, beaten to it Robin!! All points above agreed with. If they are still seated when the car is in the air, it will go through an MOT. If not, there are still ways around this...

short springs "made that way" will sometimes unseat as well... I had one of these. Mine was the hatchback. Excellent little car, fond memories.

Thanks for the replies guys, it is appreciated I don't mind chopped springs, I've had them before but I thought if there was something available off the shelf I could keep the originals incase I ever felt the need to put the car back to standard (this will never happen but the thoughts there) Hmturbo, thanks for the offer but the brakes are surprisingly good and this one with is throbbing 1.3 is never going to break any land speed records Slow and low

if its the 12 valve its surprisingly lively. The car weighs next to nothing.

what's the measurement between the bottom strut mounting bolts? as I've used golf coilovers on a variety of 80's nissans now
if you flick between the top 2 photos, it's quite amazing how close the 2 body styles are - I reckon some lows, some nice 14's or 15's (are these 4x114.3?) and a complete lack of any scene stickers and you're there!

yep she's a 12v. Actually I was being hard on it, it is nippy and keeps up with traffic on the motorway without a problem.
According to a pcd list its 4x100 with an ofset of 32-35 and a centrebore of 54.1. Plenty of choice of wheels being 4x100 but you also end up paying a premium sometimes as its the same as alot of vw's
Kev, where abouts in wales are you? I'll have to get the tape measure out and have a look at the front struts. Coilovers would be perfect even if they were only on the front
