So... I have literally only just joined and thought I would do a thread of my car Lola and her journey so far :)
This is a build thread for my Corolla. Her name is Lola!
I bought this car on the 10th Feb 2012. She has previously had 2 owners and only done 33k genuine miles. I have had alot of help from my friend Tone who has done all of the work on the car. I have tried to help where I can.
Picking her up:
The first thing to get fixed were the rear arches, both sides were just as bad as each other. Also drivers side sill/arch needed repairing. For these we used a arch repair kit and steel and a good old bit of welding:
As standard Lola had trims going along the side of her, I decided to remove these and they left horrible black tacky glue on the paint which took a LONG time to remove :x :
The next step was to sort out the front. The front of the car had a ding in its life time as a result of this the front drivers wing had a big dent/smash and needed pushing back out and repairing:
Shortly after this work was completed I recieved a nice suprise through the post... My wheels and tyres had arrived! :
So as soon as they arrived the next day I got the tyres fitted and tried them on Lola for size ;) :
Half done half not! :
ALSO! My lowering blocks had turned up... :
So we fitted the blocks and then took her out in the sun to see what they looked like... :
In this next picture you can see we have scrapped the front valance now In the last 5 pictures of repairing the front wing you can see the black repair panel someone had done on the front valance before... This was very weak and not a good shape so rather than struggle to fix this we decided it would be easier to just get rid of it all together :
To replace this we used a mk2 escort spoiler which wasnt wide enough so to widen it we used steel to add length and also strengthen it. :
We then used fibreglass filler and neatened up. After this we measured and cut the spoiler to fit then primered and painted it. We then fitted it to Lola:
Then put the bumper back on which took abit of 'rearranging' due to the ding it had previously. And lastly added the plate:
As a little touch I have added pink translucent dice valve caps:
These last 4 pictures are how she looks right now. She isn't finished yet!! Still have some patches to primer and paint and also awaiting for springs, shock absorbers and sleeves to arrive so we can lower her abit more so the wheels fit nicer in the arches and give her a better all over stance. Once that is done the next step will be to giver her an all over check before the MOT.
Lola is going to have a 'pink' theme. Not a girly curse word ooo i'm pink look but just subtle touches. Like the dice valve caps and a couple of pink stickers in the window and also I am thinking about making and putting in a roll cage and spray it pink.
Please give me your feedback of what you think of Lola, as I said she isn't finished yet and still have abit to do... :)
