The race was a 45 minute affair with a driver change half way through. We stood by the fence to watch the cars slide in and tear back out on track. The rain came down ever harder and we continued the trudge round the track. The winner was the Healey, a full lap up on the rest of the field. If any of you know Combe he was sideways everywhere. Cresting Avon Rise flat out he would snap sideways on most laps gathering it up in time to drift round Quarry. It was an awesome display of car control. With the race over and four more to come we decided to bail out early, we would miss the Formula Fords and the last three Historic races, but neither of us or our cameras could take anymore rain. Plus we had watched the qualifying sessions at least so we'd had our fill for the day. Wettest racing but also some of the best. My hat goes off to all the drivers for the spectacle and very little incident. The rest of the photos can be found here ;D

Yum Yum SLR It took me a while to figure out what it was. Elongated E -Type was our best guess from a distance. One of only three built apparently

That looks like a bloody good day out, despite the rain. Sounds/looks like it made for some interesting racing though. Some beautiful cars there as well, I'll take no 97 please, Lotus Elan? Love the colour, its the colour I wanted to paint the DoKa (before someone else did their slammed panel van in it )

I'm a bit gutted I passed on this now. I'd been planning to go, but I checked the forecast in the morning and decided against it. I'd have been on my own as the other guys I knew going were all spannering for my old college, so I would have been stood in the rain on my own. Still, these pictures make me wonder if it would have been worth being damp and lonely ;D
Some lovely metal out there, and wet racing's always interesting to watch!

Classic cars call for classic motorhomes. ;D Thank you for posting this pic. A friend of mine has a pic of the Aston on his facebook album - taken in the same spot but closer in - you can only see the back end of the motorhome. I couldn't figure out how they'd got a train in to Castle Combe! Now I know!

Its a Studebaker Lark Daytona 500. It leaned like a ship at sea which was very apt considering the conditions!

Nothing like a bit (a lot) in your case of rain to make for some craking pictures, well done for your pictures and stamina getting wet. ;D ;D

Racing always seems the most entertaining when the conditions for it are at their worst. Great set of pictures and a fantastic array of machinery. Especially liked these in addition to the above. I don't understand the wiper arrangement on this.

In a bizarre twist of fate, I spent yesterday at the owners house... With this parked outside having been unloaded from its trailer, he mentioned it had been wet. No sh*t sherlock! ;D Well braved Sir Speedman.
