This is my 1972 VW Beetle 1303 for sale in turquoise.
It's up for £1500 ONO
Re-listed due to time waster. Have returned the price to £1500, as this is no longer a quick sale and I would like to get what it's worth. Still willing to have a bit of a haggle!
No swaps
I don't know how many miles it's done as the speedo has been changed so many times it's impossible to keep count.
It currently has 12 months MOT, which replaced the track rod ends, inner steering joint. A recommendation was made to repair the rust of the front drivers side of the floor pan, but currently it is superficial and can be sorted quite easily. The front brakes were also adjusted.
It also has 12 months Tax, although it is in fact tax exempt.
It will come with loads of spares, a few exhaust manifolds (although they don't fit the engine I'm willing to give them away if you wanted them), a rear numberplate light cover, front and rear bumper and bumper brackets (I believe they're europa bumpers, don't quote me on that!), spare pea shooters, quarter litre of paint (matched to original colour), 34/3 carb, carb manifold to fit, carb single port ends etc. etc.
I haven't managed to fit the new carb, carb manifold etc. because of the exhaust manifold. The two manifolds don't match up, I fitted a new exhaust manifold to the engine, but the carb manifold would need adjusting to fit.
It's a really solid car, engine starts first time every time. I started it up a couple of days ago after 2 months of inactivity and it fired first turn. I've recently serviced it, new oil spark plugs, leads, contact points, condenser. I've also adjusted the timing, so it's all spot on. The carb that was on the engine when I bought the car is too small for it. Hence why I have a spare 34/3. This should give it a fair bit of kick once installed.
It's got a fair few rust spots, which I treated before the winter and primed, stupidly I just left the primer on so it soaked all the moisture in and rusted up again underneath, but again this is quite superficial and can be easily treated. The rear valance will need replacing, but they are relatively cheap, if you contact me in advance I can go and get one to add to the sale.
I have painted the fuel tank, replaced all the rubbers etc. for the fuel tank filler and replaced the fuel gauge sensor.
It has new Toyo's all round. I went on a mission to paint all the wheels matt black last autumn, but only managed 3 as I was reliant on the sun to dry them. Unfortunately when I got the new Toyo's on them it messed up the finish anyway, but they are still in good condition for steelies.
Interior would need re-upholstering, I would've done it but I'm a skint student! and the speedo currently isn't working, but it should just be the speedo cable, which aren't expensive at all and easy enough to replace. I can include if requested.
Overall, a solid car mechanically, just needs a bit of bodywork done! It has served me well over the past year and has been a really fun project and runabout.
I'm based in Luton, Bedfordshire.
