been let down on ebay,by idiot said he wanted,said he was laid off frid,but still bidding sun,got classfeild ad on ebay if you want look at more pics.you can ask me any questions,got fuel problem it will start then die,99 percent sure its tank,got brand new discs pads cappliers,new battery,and when had brakes done had new fluid,spent small furtune,when it drives its lovely,just sort out fuel prob you have very rare nice classic full test and full free tax,might px another rwd car,love fords so their you go,am in nsouth cumbria barrow in furness, if anyone got good tank get in touch lol, ;D

You must be barmy if you’re trying to sell this with a fuel-related running problem. How hard can that be to fix? Its hardly a problem with the CANBus network is it. At the absolute worst the tank will have to come out and be swilled out or something. At best its £15 on a new fuel pump. As it is, any buyers have got to expect that they’ll need to trailer it home despite it having a full MOT and tax. It will almost certainly cost them more to trailer it home, than it will cost you to give it to a garage to sort out if you’re struggling for time.

You’re selling what looks like an absolutely great car, fully road legal, yet anyone buying it is obliged to treat it like a £150 project with rotten sills and no engine until they have overcome this problem. Do yourself a favour!

i had a real close look at the viva, then was put right of by the fuel problem, did you not try fuel in a can onto the electric pump?,if it run ok you would know it,s the tank. my concern would be a fault at the carburetor, could be a sticking float?

i would agree with the other reply, worth sorting ,a very good motor

my astra playing up now lol,no transport cleaned tank twice put new mec fuel pump,worked for about 3 day,then put leccy one on,ran spot on,am going put can in see how that goes.if sorts it,am looking in to ali tank,till find better tank,near on impossable find,so if anyone got good tank get in touch,let down by ebayer saying got layed off frid,but still bidded it on sunday,i will not give it way cause such rare sound car,keep try sort out fuel prob,costing nowt sit in my lock up,got 1600e restoreing to,sure its tank as inline filter caked up again,go get new one,if anymore devlerments let you all know,if can sort probaly keep it till my e finshed,

Yo, if your inline filters are clogging up theres your problem surely. It sounds like the tank is all crusty inside. I presume you had a proper look inside the tank when you swilled it out? If its not leaking, you don't need a new tank! just take it out, fumigate it (MEGA IMPORTANT), chop a big square hole in it on a flat surface and get it sandblasted inside so that you can see its properly 100% clean. Then weld a new section of steel in to cover the hole up again, get a pro welder to do this if you're not confident as obv you want good 'watertight' welding. A bit of arsing about, but not a mega expense. Then you will be selling a fully up and running car. I'm telling you, you will have a right battle on flogging this if you don't crack the problem as you are basically selling a 'project' at 'going concern' money.

Do you travel up and down the M6 a lot? i'm in Crewe, if you bring me the tank i'll fix it for you in exchange for an indian takeaway.

was sat on the bog today reading the frosts catalogue. they do stuff for sealing up tanks and cleaning them out... thought of this thread
