Anyway... The OEM airbox is now fitted with an OEM air filter. She sounds quite a lot quieter than with the old cone filter, and she definately runs better. She feels just a bit more torquey too, but that could be a placebo. I need to get a bit of air ducting to sit behind the kidneys if there's room, so it's a proper cold air feed. I took pictures of her today for the aproved valuation for the insurance, i'll upload some later

Gaydon!
Well, the moment finally came to get the big 6 out on the motorway, and see how she'd behave on a decent trip. I've got to admit, i was a bit unsure of driving her that far, but once we were rolling it wasn't as bad as i expected. There is definately a cooling issue still, she was fine while we were moving, but there was an accident on the M5 northbound which meant we were parked for approximately an hour and a half. This meant that i had to have the blowers on hot, with the fan running at full chat to cool her down. At one point, i even turned her off because we were just sat stationary. As soon as the traffic cleared though, the temp came back down, and she drove the rest of the way without any drama.
The show went well, she got lots of attention on the stand, sadly no-one offering me bundles of cash to take her away, but who knows what the next few weeks might bring. The drive home went even better, she purred along on the motorway quite happily, the temp needle not moving past half way even once. She felt a lot more responsive too, at one point coming out of some services she absolutely flew down the slip road. I was quite surprised to be honest.
She's had a wash today with my new nilfisk, just a general clean up really, she'll be going back into the garage in the next few days. The trip to Gaydon and back has highlighted a couple of things i need to get on to :-
The Aircon fan doesn't appear to work, i'll see to this when the radiator comes out and is either cleaned out or replaced.
The brakes definately need a service. I think at least some of the heat in the engine bay is from the o/s/f brake calliper binding a bit. I'll probably put new discs and pads on it all round, give the callipers a clean up and give it a fluid change. I might also try and get a set of braided hoses. God only knows when it was done before.
The electric seats need the switch boxes sorting, a few people at gaydon were pointing out that the seats aren't electric. Most likely because all of the other E24's that were there had the seat switches on the center console, beside the handbrake, mine are on the side of the seats like the E36.
The rear windscreen is going to have to come out, so that the rest of the glue can be cleaned off of it properly.
The seats all need another wipe clean and condition again.
The headlights need to be brighter. I honestly couldn't even tell if they were on at one point. I think a set of low temp HID's might be in order. Something that will still look OEM, but will give a bit more light output. Maybe about 4000k's or something.
I'll update again as and when any of the above gets done, or if she sells before hand.

She's all tucked up in the garage now, i'll be dropping the radiator and fuel tank out of her in the next few weeks so they can be repaired or replaced, but she won't be coming out of the garage again now until probably april/may time. She should have had a brake overhaul by then too.

Due to the previous bidder being a timewaster, I've just relisted her on EBay, to start tomorrow at 5pm, and to end 10 days after on Sunday at 5pm or just after. Hopefully this time she'll sell to someone who'll actually come and take her away.
Item number is 151115426669, I'll add a link tomorrow once it goes live.
