What a restoration! Looks lovely now I must say. This a 'roadgoing' version of the GT40 non?

cheers all ;D it is indeed one of the seven road going cars ever made. once it comes back i'll need to get it ready for its epic road trip of driving to LeMans from the UK. that'll mean quite long road tests to make sure it behaves oh and it only had 6400 miles on the clock when it came out of the museum. the MK3's had a central gearchange where as the mk1 and mk2 has the gearchange on the drivers door sill

the great thing is once i removed the spacers from under the drivers seat it meant that i could fit a lot more comfortably. having spent the last six month pretty solid on this car the Mk1's look very stumpy by comparison.

Would I have seen this car on the back of a low loader many years ago? In Scotland?

Absolutely astounding. I can't quite get over how much more special it looks in its original trim.
Proper, real, automotive history. I can imagine you're extremely proud.

I have to ask, did you talk to the owner at all? I always wondered how the relationship between craftsman and (very, very rich) owner must be in these situations.
