I'm looking for a 6.1 sound card for mine, if anyone knows of one that works.
I've mounted the Pi in a triple decker clear case, and I want to crack open the sound card and usb hub cases and mount them in the extra decks.
I want to get a couple more, one as a genera purpose, low power download server and one to go in the van as an entertainment centre while I'm camping.

Managed to get my Transmission server sorted, I used the script here: blog.snapdragon.cc/raspberry-pi-as-bittorrent-server/It took some fiddling to get right, but I can connect from any where on my home network and see what's going on. Here's a screenshot from my phone. Next step is to configure port forwarding configured so I can get remote access.

Nice! I like that a lot, so far I have a list of raspi projects to do, this is now on that list! Hmm.....where to find a pile of money for a dozen more raspi's? Lol

Tell me about it! This week I've been tempted to install Quake, then PenguinPuzzle, then a MAME emulator, brush up on my python, my php and shell scripting skills, and investigate HW interfacing with my RC cars, and a Gameboy. And built a robot. The list gets longer daily! I presume most of you will have seen this already, but your RPi now has a Turbo Boost! www.raspberrypi.org/archives/2008What does this mean? Comparing the new image with 1GHz turbo enabled, against the previous image at 700MHz, nbench reports 52% faster on integer, 64% faster on floating point and 55% faster on memory. PenguinPuzzle and SmartSim are now pre-installed. You'll need to run this to get the upgraded firmware. sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Finally got my port forwarding configured, so I can access my web server and access the RPI over SSH. Since Vodahome like to change my IP address regularly, I've had to find a way to access my machine consistently. So I registered on no-ip.org, downloaded their dynamic update client onto my RPI, compiled and configured it (at least I _think_ it's configured OK) and I can see my homepage from the office now!

vdubbin.no-ip.org is live! There's feck all on there, and it's very very slow, so I don't know how much use it'll be for any one but me…

Now sporting a proper retro ASCII art motd baner when you connect over SSH!! image hosting provided by vdubbin.no-ip.org Any one else done anything unusual with theirs? Enabled Turbo Mode on mine, so it runs at 1050Mhz when it gets busy. Since I only use it as a headless server, I also shifted the bulk of the RAM back to the ARM. Looking for something else to do with it now.

I installed RaspBMC RC5 last night and there really is a blistering performance increase! This isn't even using the Turbo mode as there are SD card corruption issues at the moment.
Definitely upgrade if you are using RaspBMC!

Still running OpenELEC as a media centre via iPhone. No issues to report so far. Anyone found any interesting uses for the Raspi?

I've found Zork: kimondo.co.uk/play-zork-on-the-raspberry-pi/
There goes the afternoon. I may be eaten by a Grue.

It looked like a proper nitmare last time I tried.

www.raspberrypi.org/archives/2180They've doubled the memory on all Pis built from today. so if you've ordered one, but it hasn't shipped yet, then it'll probably have 512MB RAM. Which is nice

Plugged in external speaker in to Pi, went to work, Mrs V at home today. SSH'd onto my Pi from work, installed epeak, scared the bejaysus out of her when it started talking to her in a variety of computer voices!
Sometimes it's the little things…

Sometimes it's the little things… Stolen from a printer hijack idea... Give the printer ‘sentience’ gradually. Start off with just some errors like random alt & unicode letters & symbols. Slowly get on track to printing roman alphabets mixed in. Then, mix in some simple words like ‘hi’, ‘help’, ‘do’, etc,. Simple sentences come next. Nothing extravagant, maybe, ‘can you read this’ ‘i am printer’, etc,. Move up in complexity til you reach perfect grammar and longer sentences. Talking printer.

I should have tried that, I went with the "Is this thing on? Can you hear me?" routine instead.
So, it turns out that the Transmission BT client doesn't like lots of overclocking ( I had Turbo Mode on continuously, instead of as needed). It's got something to something to do with the way the NIC handles traffic in TM, and the large amount of I/O involved.
Of course I only discovered that AFTER uninstalling Transmission and all the settings files…
Every day's a school day!

I've finally got raspbmc running on my pi and have got 4OD, Iplayer, ITV player and 5player add ons and added my mp3s to an external HDD. All I want now is to be able to set one of the GPIO pins to live when its playing music so I can use this via a relay to turn an amp on and off. Any ideas anyone?
