photos before I start (again) working on my ute. bought it a few years ago, finished off what the original owner did, drove it around for a few years, now to paint it it a colour I like and remove the rust "proper" replacing metal for metal and not filler its got a 253cu or 4.2 ltr V8 in it, was meant to be rebuilt by the previous owner, I reckon he would been spending money on a 350 chev for it this is a ute version of the same model that dodge rover/panda had, although that has a 308 or 5ltr v8 in it

Quite a handsome big beast. I was looking for a holden before I plumped for an Aussie Camaro.
Nice!!

Nice to see some pictures of yours ;D, Sadly got no idea what happened to mine after it was moved on Which model front clip is that? for some reason it looks different to what I remember - I keep thinking of the CH/CM valiants when I look at it! Did you buy the white ute that was on the bay earlier this year for spares? It had some nice jelly bean mags amongst the usual rust.... There was also a green one tonner with a 308 for sale up near leeds years ago. Had a tray back that I think rotted off...

Maybe you're thinking of one of this front end, dodgerover. I never thought about the similarity in appearance a CM Valiant has to an HQ Holden, but man, you're right. Its gotta be the quad headlight/recessed grille setup.

first up its auto, thats a HQ statesman front end on it, and i did see the white one on ebay, but i thought it went for too much considering how much rust was in it. rust wise it shouldn't be too bad, i shall give it a little tickle with a twisted knot wire brush, should remove the filler quite nicely

this is a ute version of the same model that dodge rover/panda had, although that has a 308 or 5ltr v8 in it Sadly looks like its been scrapped/raced, as the new buyer went back to Australia and the car hasnt been seen since (not exported, not taxed, not sorn)

Nice ute mate! Interesting to see one in the UK. It's got all the classic Aussie mods on it, so I assume it must have lived in Australia for a few decades and been done up here before it got shipped over? GTS wheels, later model sedan/wagon rear bumper, HQ Statesman front clip as mentioned by hardtop. It's actually kind of unusual to see one with a HQ Statesman front, normally people either go for the WB Caprice front or one of the Premier front ends.
Just out of interest, does it have a centre console? I noticed that it has bucket seats in there and not a bench. I assume that it would still have the column shifter and not a B&M shifter on the floor or anything like that.
Yours looks pretty straight and decent for one of these. The tailgate in particular looks much nicer than most! Shame about the Trimatic (Traumatic) slushbox. My WB ute has a 202ci six and four-speed, mostly so that I could avoid the 253 and Trimatic combo. They do make a lovely noise with the right exhaust, but they are somewhat lacking in urgency for a V8! If yours isn't on LPG already, then get it converted. They love the stuff. I'd imagine the fuel bills are pretty eye-watering over there in the UK! I just topped mine off today at AU$1.28 per litre, which is 87 pence. Not sure how much petrol you get for 87p!

87p doesn't even pay the tax on a litre of fuel here.

it was brought over from OZ by the previous owner to me, he paid some bloke to source one for him (he actually built hq's on the line) but it would have been cheaper to source a decent one, as this one wasn't on the road and they filled the back up with new parts from rare spares and shipped it over, it does have a floor shifter, but b&m it aint, looks like a standard holden one to me, traumatic has been ok so far, if it does give up the ghost ill chuck a 350cu and th350 in it, but i haven't been doing burnouts the wheels i got from over here and they suit it i reckon, should look ok, petrol is £1.30 atm and i do have a gas conversion for it as well, lots of HQ's had HQ statesman front ends when i was a kiddy, its not like i have a choice now in any case, pandas wagon had a wb front end on it, but it looks like it may have gone

Whats the plan there then? Rust prevention? and yeah, i plan to cut out any rust before i paint it quite a few things on the dream list i cant afford, 9inch, LS engine out of a monaro/corvette, supercharger speaking of which, the bonnet had a hole cut for a bug catcher when i bought it, too bad it would have just looked good instead of going fast.......lol
