I´ve been reading this thread for a while now and I have to say the car looks beautiful, especially the engine bay ! Keep up the good work - i´m off out to the shed to work on my Mini too Thanks! I am quite pleased with. There are a couple of bits I would like to change. But I can do those are a later date. I just want to get some use of her for now!

Absolutely right - time to enjoy all the hard work you´ve put in ! I reckon it´s been about 8 years since I had a Mini on the road. Sure i´ve had lots of interesting stuff in between but there´s really nothing quite like a Mini on 10" wheels for grin-making fun. Sadly, it´ll be a while before I can get my Clubman up and ready for an MOT. I guess i´ll have to keep reading about other Minis like yours and push to get it finished !

Got a few bits done yesterday. The other clutch bracket I picked up got painted. Carb on. Made this little little bit of fuel pipe to keep it off the manifold. I just need to go buy a few more fuel pipe clips and thats then done. Mini spares still don't have my bumpers in so I grabbed a pair of a mate for the time being. Looks so much better with them thats for sure. Anyway that is about it for now. Cheers.

Your right there i nothing quite like a mini. A mate of mile sold his a while back and bought a VX220. He's saved up a bit and we are gonna go a view another mini later on as despite the fact the VX has 5 times the BHP the mini has he still misses the fun he had with it. Sadly I missed the deadline on this of this weekend for the IMM but it means I don't need to rush it anymore.

still looks lovely, and I bet you didn't miss the deadline by much... Always best not to rush in the long run - I ended up rebuilding my Mini about three times because of rushing to get out and drive it!

Excellent, nice to see progress continuing ! I´d recommend you put a couple of hose clamps or jubilee clips on that fuel hose though - the rubber will become softer and more flexible with heat from the exhaust. Would be a real shame if the lovely engine bay got scorched ! I´m gonna try to get the radiator into my now LHD clubby estate tonight

Cheers guys! Yea don't worry that pipe will have clips I just need to go buy them. I won't run it like that. Yea so the car did not make the IMM. But I had a great weekend and I got lots of bit for her. Shopping! I picked up 3 inno headlight rings for £25 which I thought was quite good. They need a bit of work but look the nads. As you can see from those pics the mini spares genuine bumpers I bought got fitted. I also fitted the mirror on the seam. I have had problems with the clutch line leaking on the join on the bulk head so I bought the braided pipe that goes from the master cylinder straight in to the slave one. Most the other bits I have bought are for others minis and some service parts. I have not really done anything to it for a week now so I need a kick in the ass. I would love to get it done for the Retro Rides Gathering but I am in between jobs at the moment so money and time is a little bit tight. Thanks.

What else is left to get it back on the road?? Surely can't be much?! Come on, RRG is two weeks away (kinda) you can do it!! If only I had made it, would have been awesome! Until this morning I had not touched the car in over a month. I sort of lost motivation and started a new job which took up a lot of my time with training and long hours. Anyway I shouldn't really make excuses I should have stop whinging and made time! Anyway this morning I ended up waking up early so while I had a spare hour I popped out and fitted the clutch slave cylinder bracket and slave cylinder. I uploaded this in Facebook asking anyone where I could get a replacement rubber for the end to be told I had actually got the wrong type cylinder for my car. BOOOO. So I am gonna order a new one with a rubber on friday and get that plumbed in. Only a small step but the gathering at the weekend really gave me a boost of enthusiasm to get it done! Thats about it for the time being! Ta.

In way, it is better to know now than put the car together and then find the clutch doesn't work! Still a bit of a bummer though. I'm sure the RRG enthusiasm will take a while to die down so keep going and it'll be done before you know it!! Congratulations on the new job btw :-)

Yea hoping the Gathering boost will be me going for a bit. Its Castle Combe at the end of the month and I would love to have it done for that but I am away this weekend, Then I have a christening, then the weekend before Combe I am away at a wedding. All my inconsiderate mates keep getting married and having children and its eating away at mini building time haha. TBH I'm not gonna use it through the winter anyway so I may as well take my time. Double check everything get it all done properly. I would like to take it to a local New Years Day car meet if the weathers good. If not I will take it to Brooklands in March.

Its Definately worth getting it right the first time round, I recently welded some holes in the boot and rear valance of the mini, not happy with the rushed results, but I did make it to the retro fundraising event so I didn't mind. Some epic work has happened here look forward to seeing this one around

This is awesome! And you've really inspired me to take my time with my build (MX5 engine in an Amazon) I keep thinking it'll be done soon and getting stressed when its not but really it's best to do it right as frustrating as it is not driving it! Keep up the good work

I'll give this a bit of an update while i'm on here. For some reason all the picture links have broken which is bloody annoying! I had loads of problems with fitting brake lines and the poor quality of the kit I got from mini spares. I basically got so annoyed with it leaking from every join I gave up. Thankfully a mate of mine is sorting it, he is taking the car stripping out all the curse word brakes pipes and starting again making his own, He should be picking the car up this week to make a start. Also turns out the carb I fitted was a 38 not a 44 so I swapped that over for the correct one and fitted the air filter. I finally got my number plate light for the boot lid back from the body shop after a year of waiting and nagging! So that is wired up and fitted. Tail lights are wired up, once these are tested i'll mount the fuel tank. I have a few its of wiring that needs sorting as being a different engine to standard a few bits need moving but that should not be a big job. Heres a few odd pics I took of the car yesterday. The interior is being picked up at Bingley at the end of January, it needs a respray to sort of the dodgy paint and hopefully it will make a show towards the end of March. Thats about it for now. Cheers.

Looking super tidy, sounds like its only a couple of minor job to finish off... well, apart from the interior of course!
Hope you got the brakes sorted, they're kinda important :-P
