Well this has been a disappointing couple of conversations for me. Chompysnake took over organising the meet a few months ago after I had to move up north and could no longer be responsible for this meet. All was well with attendees and pub management, and the meet was good.
Unfortunately, due to recent events at the venue, the Landlord of Meadow Farm has requested that we no longer meet there.
THIS MEET HAS SHUT DOWN
The cause of this is a minority of people that have been misbehaving, not respecting the 'be grown ups' general rule of the meet and not respecting the venue. Their antics have drawn unwanted police attention and damaged the pub's trade where before them we were actually boosting the pub's trade.
It is incredibly disappointing not only that a small percentage of attendees should spoil it for the majority but that also the majority did not stand up to them to prevent a repeat of the previous venue's disaster. This reflects not only on the people attending, but on Retro Rides, the clubs attending and owners of modified cars as a whole.
DO NOT attend Meadow Farm on the next meet date, YOU WILL be turned away by the pub management.

I just started a new job today and I'm not sure what my hours are going to be but that won't prevent me from making regular updates here for people. What I would ask is that anyone taking photographs stick them up here or at the very least stick a link to a gallery of pictures from the meet for others to see.
I'll do my best to get to any meets I can, of course, but until I know my shift patterns I won't know which ones I can and can't make.

gruss: yes I was Mine's the big ugly Princess that was parked on the Toys R Us bit with the less ugly Marina and almost beautiful Montego. joem: That's the stuff, cram one or two of those into the bushes on the entrance. @everyone else: Looks like I should be able to make it to the meet in person providing that a) I get the car road legal in time (though there is back-up Skoda if needed) and b) I've worked out my new shift rotation correctly. Worth noting that if anyone does see someone being dangerous it's best to have a polite (and I do mean polite, I expect gentlemanly conduct here, not nobbery in retaliation to nobbery) word first to just make them aware of the family meet thing. If they're a complete nob and don't tone it down, that's when you call the boys in blue and give them a description of the car. I don't want police presence particularly if it's going to have a negative effect, but I do want to work *with* the police to promote the hobby. Here's hoping the next meet is a good one, regardless.

We have the police run through our chippy meet a couple of times a night every month without fail, imo it's a good thing, they don't give us any hassle because we all behave ourselves and their presence is welcomed to keep the curse word away.

A quick Google should reveal all you need to know.

Here's a last minute reminder for the meet this upcoming Monday the 1st of October. I shan't be there in the Princess because of having a crash, so I'll be there in something else instead.
Tell all your awesome friends to bring their retro cars.

I genuinely don't know if I can make it down this evening, I don't finish work until 7pm so it could be gone 8 before I show my face

Better late than never, providing you're there before 9pm there should still be stuff to see and people to say hello to. I'm likely going to be there until at least 10pm, depending on the turnout and the weather, obviously.

Was an interesting meet this evening. Nice variety of cars. Only a couple of idiots too! I actually expected more! All in all a good night though - will definitely be making more regular appearances.

Tonight went better than expected. I had to have a word with one person who was being a bit twattish, but other than that everyone behaved bar some acceptable showing off and there was a surprising variety of stuff there.
I'll get the pictures up online when I can, got a busy couple of days ahead of me so I'm not sure when they'll appear. Good to see some new faces.
