Sprayed on first filler undercoat to rear quarterpanel, looks better already than I first thought. Still needs bit more shaping but feeling much better allready. Also finished carving out rust and old loose putty around the rear window, started the passenger side which isn't nearly as badly damaged as the driver's side. Only bit rust on the bumber welding line and couple of dents on the side

urgh, filler. Horrible stuff when you have to deal with that quantity of it. Does it really have to have all that filler put back in? Surely it's just going to create the same problem around the window again in time.

I wonder why it was slapped so much putty first time, the metal covering the old rear window is pretty nicely shaped and once I finish fixing the welds around the frame I really don't think it would need so much filler anymore. Straightened the driver's side a little with slidehammer before primering it and starting the passenger side later this week.

fair enough, I didn't realise you were reshaping things to reduce the amount of filler/putty needed, this is a good thing then.
