Wow, EPIC thread! Really enjoyed the great pictures and the words! Your line: “I wouldn't advise asking your bootmaker for cock” made me laugh out loud! ;D I have to take you to task on this though: and even more ancient, this Renault thing. Moses had one of these I seem to remember from Sunday School that Moses was a B.L. man; I dimly recall a passage that reads “The roar of Moses' Triumph is heard in the hills"…. Brilliant thread, cheers!

I always like your show threads - the captions really do make them. You really should consider writing for a living. I seem to remember from Sunday School that Moses was a B.L. man; I dimly recall a passage that reads “The roar of Moses' Triumph is heard in the hills" Joshua, too: ;D

Great pictures and a great write-up man. I love the story behind Spirit of Ecstasy. Funny how individuals little wims and eccentricities end-up as the staple for multi-gazillion pound, international dynasties, y'know ? Household names for billions of pople who probably neither know or care why, such as Mercedes Benz....

Thanks again, peeps. Sadly, no record of the price on the Sedan deVille that I could find Brilliant pictures!! The '56 Chevy Station Wagon was ours, sold it there, miss it like hell!! Hope you got a good price for it, it was properly excellent! Mercedes was Gottlieb Daimler's daughter's name wasn't it? Or Karl Benz's daughter, I forget which. Apparently Rolls and Royce were dead set against having a bonnet ornament because they thought it detracted from the beauty of the car's lines and purity of the engineering excellence. They only allowed the commissioning of the Spirit after owners of their cars started putting their own mascots on (as was common practice in them days). They realised the only way they could control what ornaments were associated with their cars was to produce their own. Hence the Whisper became the inspiration for the Spirit of Ecstasy; they basically went to Sykes and said "do what you did for Lord Montagu, only slightly different" Hi mate great pics anymore of the tatty europa used to belong to a bloke I work with till about 8 months ago when he sold it Your wish is my command, lol. Only quite curse word ones of it, though I'm afraid... Personally, I quite like it all dinged and dented, looks mean. And at least being made from Tupperware it isn't going to rust through ;D

Brilliant pictures and write up - Beaulieu is definately going in the diary for next year - I haven't been since a school trip in about 1977

Currently driving a 1972 BMW 1602 as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

Stalker alert! ;D Joking aside, it certainly is a great way to spend a weekend. The only downside for me was having to fit in a full working shift between the Speed Trials and Beaulieu I was feeling the burn by the time I got to my pit on Sunday night lol. I couldn't bring myself to "do" the bike run on the Sunday, I had to sell my bike last year after one too many accidents, I can't use most of my limbs well enough to ride it properly any more so it had to go. Too depressing seeing thousands of people enjoying theirs now

What a bloody impressive thread!, Seriously good work Lucky7, I also laughed my cock off at your cock joke.
I've been to the May autojumble a few times and really enjoy it, there's always something of interest for sale or in the autojumble.
Annoyingly I think i clocked a Cortina wing that I'm after in one of your photos too, Typical.
