The V5 is worthless. Such modifications will mean it requires inspection and Q reg issued. Hope you didn't pay anything more than token amount for it. Paul H Did you read the topic Paul? Did you read what I was asking and what the discussion is about? I'm really not interested in what you think about the legalities of the project. Go find someone else's bonfire to curse word on.

Stefan, It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sold on it. There's a massive difference between rock crawlers and something which has to launch on dry tarmac...! The shock loading from a tarmac car is NOTHING near what you get offroad with large tyres. There's a reason safari and dakar cars run massive spec gearboxes with relatively puny outputs. The box on our buggy takes 600lbft+ in a GT40 race rep. I wouldn't trust it past 250 in the buggy....

When you build a tarmac car using your theory let me know what happens.
Hold on, what dakar car has a puny output?

As I said shock loading off road is massive comparied to tarmack driving, Dakar machines have massive trans and shafts compared to race or road cars of the same power, thats why 4x4s have big axles and shafts for the power they put out.
the shock load of a wheel smashing into a rock when the engine is doing 5k and it comes to a near stop is alot more than a clutch could ever put on a drive train.
still its your project your way and I have to say I do look forward to a build thread, and I have learnt that I could use the audi diffs as I have spent alot of time looking for diffs for this sort of drive train and never thought of them

When you build a tarmac car using your theory let me know what happens. Hold on, what dakar car has a puny output? When you actually build a few cars, that win races and championships outright, you can come back and correct me. Seeing as you're running a Milner transfer box in there it might be worth having a word with Andy up there or just have a look around the off-roaders for layout ideas? Given the amount of mid engine 4wd beasties these days we've all found decent ways around the issue, it'd just be what you decide is more period looking I suppose.

What's your problem ? YOU said you bought the V5 - nobody else. I agree with stealthstylz Paul h
