Good day to you all!
Up for sale is my 1988 MK4 Escort Popular in Maritime Blue.
It is very clean and very original, has only 60,200 miles on it, and it's been really well looked after.
I bought it off an old lady who always kept it garaged, as a result you'd be hard pressed to find a speck of rust on it anywhere! it really is very clean. The sills and arches are all perfect, just a scratch on the front of the bonnet and a pin dent in the door seem to be the only bodywork issues.
It has the 1.3 OHV engine, which is actually surprisingly nippy for what it is!
Has RS Turbo Recaro seats in the front, drivers side has a bit of stitching that has opened, (about 2 inches) but an easy fix for the Mrs to do! unfortunately I don't have the original seats.
Has an Ashley backbox from an Xr3 on it. sounds nice!
I fitted a cigarette lighter for my satnav as the Populars didn't come with them!
It has been lowered 40mm on Spax springs, but I have the original springs which will go with it.
I removed the chrome trim that goes around the bumpers for a cleaner look, but it's included if you wanted to stick them back on.
I have fitted an alarm, remote central locking and an immobiliser on it which has 2 fobs and works well.
Comes with Alpine Infinity speakers fitted in customised kick panel mounts, I bought these seperately to modify and still have the original unmolested ones. Has wiring for 6x9's at the back, comes with a parcel shelf with holes for 6x9's and also the original uncut parcel shelf.
I have put clear indicators and side repeaters on it, but again, I have the originals which will be included.
Comes with original steel wheels (not the Capri steels in some of the pictures) and all 4 matching wheel trims! (one has a crack) the spare wheel is unused with a Goodyear tyre on which is not perished or anything.
Just had a new exhaust down pipe, disks and pads on the front, and one new hub.
Passed it's MOT, only advisories were a leak in the seal on the drivers side headlight (cheap to get a new one) and a slight exhaust leak.
10 and a half months MOT and 5 months Tax.
At one point I put some 8x13 Slotmags on it, and as a result put bolt on arches on the rear. this has left holes round the rear arches, (see pictures) they have been filled with stainless screws and sealant so they won't rust, and could easily be filled and sprayed if they bothered you that much.
The car will come with the arches if you were thinking of putting mentally wide wheels on it.
The headlight has gone a bit rusty under the chrome where the seal has leaked, but these are cheap and easy to get.
The interior is very very clean, but as a result of leaving it in the sun, the plastic on the rear door cards has lifted a bit, but I'm sure this can be glued back down, and the front door arm rests have gone a bit off colour.
Comes with black tailored mats.
The areas under the battery and fusebox trays are rust problem areas on these cars, but these are perfect! never been welded.
Has a brand new battery and terminals.
It's very economical! I get about 60-70 miles to a tenner of petrol.
I'm based between Epsom/Kingston postcode KT4 8UD.
interested buyers are more than welcome to come and check it out.
Not into swaps unless it's a fairly modern estate, but rather have the cash to finish off my Capri!
if anyone wants more pictures of anything, then let me know!
