A popularly modified car, played about with by someone who has not really been interested in them could go one of two ways. Fortunately yours is looking great!
Can't really comment on the ride height or proposed changes with that weight in the back seat. I think the thing to aim for would be near on identical height measured from wheel rim to arch.

Probably a schoolboy question but do you get radically uneven wear on the tyres?

They do wear down on the inside edge because of the camber but as with normal wheel set ups it's incorrect toe in/out that kills them quickly. I won't be doing too many miles or doing any aggresive driving so I'm not really worried and I ran these wheels on my old E30 which also had camber & I used to do burnouts all the time in that with no great wear on the tyres

I wish it did burnouts Joe! Feels pretty delicate compared to old Fords, rolls along but no real acceleration. You're in 4th by 35 & it doesn't make a difference if you thrash it or drive steadily I did touch 80 in it on a duel carriageway though, felt pretty steady too with no rattles or vibrations (well no more than you get at 30...)

Anything will do burnouts with enough effort (and oil on the floor!)
Are you going to be rolling as is engine wise or are you planning on anything different eventually? Must be so much available for aircooled engines

These days I tend to find Bugs a little 'samey' but that wheel/tyre/arch combo is somehow interesting me. Looks like this could be going in a good direction.
Any paint plans?
(please don't satin black it tho)

It doesn't take much to get the rear end of a Beetle sliding about from memory, not even intentionally.

It doesn't take much to get the rear end of a Beetle sliding about from memory, not even intentionally. It's stopping the front doing it when the petrol tank drops below 1/4 full that's interesting

I like that. I'd say front down abit too. Don't know anything about these, is there a way to get decent camber on the front as well as the rear? Most Beetles I've seen have really tucked wheels, this doesn't and looks pretty cool imo

Picked up some standard steels for this tonight from bousfield19 so will have the option of running it tucked as well I won't even be attempting to do burnouts, just steady sensible cruising for me

Not updated this in a while but not a lot has happened. My mate did some pinstriping on it yesterday, not bad as he's not really done much before. Today I sorted out some drop spindles & some air shocks for the front, going to get a tank & compressor with a manual paddle switch. Will be a fairly simple set up but should be pretty cool & able to drop & lift on the move as well as laying the front beam when parked up.

Air shocks have arrived, took them to a local pnuematic place to see what fittings etc I can run with them. Going to need to get them drilled and tapped with a 1/4" BSP thread so I can run 6mm line and push fit fixings. Will be dropping them off at a local engineering shop tomorrow. I have also bought an air tank from a P38 Range Rover and I'm watching a few compressors but I'm still not sure on what to go for.
