Meanwhile, I've been playing with the Santana. Finally got round to removing the fluffy purple headlining and replacing it with a nice original one (took me ages to find and had to buy a whole car just to have it! Luckily it was nice and cheap)
Lawsys did a good job with this but sadly, it was sagging and it's not to my particular taste but I enjoyed it while it lasted;
I had to cut 2 holes in the rear for the passenger spot lights but it turned out spot on.
Some really old dude decided he wanted to be in the lane I was in but don't realise I was already there. Poor old git bashed my nice car and on the good side too. He should have hit the rusty side!! Ah well, he is paying to get it sorted. Luckily it won't cost too much to sort out. I felt bad for the old chap really. If I could afford it, I'd let him off or at least if it was the rusty side I would have gone halves with him. Sadly I'm not in a financial position to do that at the moment
Also I've been thinking of selling the GX5 with all the spares I've managed to source over the last 3 or so years. Is that a bad idea? I am thinking I could use the money and space to get the golf up and running again. I've got a feeling that I'll regret it. I can't really afford to restore it for a while though
I went to ultimate stance on the weekend. There were some awesome cars on show.
The owner of Bstar wheels rang me up on the Friday because one if the cars he had lined up for the show couldn't make it. Unfortunately my golf isn't ready but I offered to fit my wheels to the new Santana instead and he went for it. It is a little crusty and dented but it scrubbed up well
I think the blue 83 looks a lot nicer than the GX5 the colour really helps the shape and lines over the silver, with the Brazilian rear lights as well just sets it off.
Good luck with getting the mk1 sorted over winter, one day I will get myself an early mk2 golf in jade green with a G60 swap (I probably wont but I would like too)
And the Bstars looked awesome on the blue santana!
Thanks mate you should do it. Mk2s are awesome
Now I'm thinking I might not even bother putting the g60 back in the golf. I miss the little engine. Also I think the g60 will be a straight fit into the '83 Santana? Just need to pop the intercooler in there and sort the pipe work. That would be a cool swap! Never seen a G60 Santana!
