I've seen these on the 'Bay and have wondered how easy they are to build. Was thinking there could be the basis of a good little business!

I hope you've saved the templates?! I was looking at these as well. Have you bought anymore of the parts off them or are you sourcing them seperate? Axles/wheels wise.

Yep, I'll use the templates again for the next one, I'm sourcing all the parts as I go along, found much cheaper bin, wheels and arches, the king pins and rear axle will have to be modified away from the plans because of the wheels I intend to use.

How much will this end up weighing? I'd have thought that MDF would make it really heavy, which I guess isn't ideal when you only have one brake drill power to shove it along? Not being negative or insulting, just genuinely curious if something like ply wouldn't be more suitable. I guess MDF lets you make a monocoque without any structural strangthening needed, maybe that's why. It's pretty damn cool, though, I wish I'd had a grandad who made me like proper powered racecars and stuff Is it too late to put myself up for adoption, lol

I don't know how heavy they will be, but they seem to go ok in this vid

Our Wilkinsons has Flip bins at £5 at the moment. Yep, that's the ones I got, although I'm going to have to be creative with the bin lid/boot lid.

How much does the battery last though!!! Quite interested in building one for my daughter actually!! I have some thick ply which would be good as well instead of the mdf I suppose!!

Interesting, looked at the these on ebay and father in law even bought the plans but not kicked off yet. Will watch and see how you get on.

Due to not getting the correct kitchen bin, I can't make the lid work as a boot, so just made it out of mdf. Made a start on the accelerator system: and made a start on the steering:
