Hi, I have owned a Nissan Homy for about 7 yrs now and I love it! After being shafted by my mechanic and me refusing to return as I don't appreciate being ripped off, I am having trouble sourcing parts and she is due an MOT. Most mechanics won't touch her as its an import, and those that have checked her out gave me a wrong diagnosis. Does any one know where I can get parts? Please help!! I'm desperate as I don't want to get rid of her! Waiting in anticipation Kim

I don't want to sound stupid, but I don't know!is that what you call them? All I know is its a nissan Homy limousine, 1993 caravan E24. I have tried for an absolute age to try and find some one else who has one or has at least heard of one!!

What have you been ripped off on previously? Labour isn't cheap so even a simple job can end up eye wateringly expensive. Half a day's labour at the independent garage I use is near £200 (£40/hour + VAT) I personally would put it in for its MOT and see what you come back with before worrying. Service bits should be no problem as it looks like it probably has the same engine that was used in Terranos etc. Searching specifically for Homy parts may draw a blank as they were never sold here as far as I know, but since you know it's an E24 series, you will hopefully be able to search by some other names. Wikipedia says it was sold as an Urvan as well as Homy.

What parts do you need? May sound saft but my first port of call would be my local nissan dealers, most japanese manufacturers seem to keep a fair bit of stock for older models. You just might have to wait a bit for parts to turn up from Japan!

Urvan and homy are the same thing just different name based on where it was sold. you should be able to get parts from nissan without too much trouble, I got bits for my car from a nissan parts centre and thats quite a bit older!
PS your location might help!!!

GLC Autos in Swansea may be able to help you on the parts front they specialise in Japanese imports.

I have tried my local Nissan garage and they were not at all helpful and told me to try the Internet!I do manage to service it (in a fashion) myself like change the oil and filters, i have even managed to change the thermostat myself when it was overheating and a mechanic (I use the term loosely) told me it was because I needed a new head gasket!!! My last mechanic tried to charge me £600 to get it through an MOT as it needed new brakes and a handbrake cable, when I took it to MOT max for a second opinion it failed on its omissions, with a bit of engine cleaner in the diesel it passed the next day total cost £54.00. I am confident that it won't fail dramatically but I do need a side light lens as a pigeon decided to commit suicide and smashed mine up. It will also be helpful if I know where I can source parts for future reference. I appreciate all your comments and thank you for your suggestions it has given me something to work with!

cool ride again, putting a rough location up on here will help people to be able to point you in the right direction. finding trim parts, light lenses etc may be a little tricky. thou they may be the same as other models, so you'd need to do some searching. you can always get some repair tape to put over the light lens for now, just to get the MOT done so there's no need to panic.

Would this be any use to you? (without photos or more details/age of yours it's hard to know what to look for?) Urvan breaking on eBayI'm aware that yours will be the people carrier/MPV type rahter than a panel van, but as I said, it's hard to know what to look for when it could be a car from any year starting early 80's right up to present day.

I had an E24 in Australia. Cool vans.
The official UK ones are badged as Urvans and any decent motor factors should have books that still cover it (even Halfords). Just ask for service items for you Urvan rather than your Homy.
Re the Nissan dealers, I think you just need to find a friendly parts guy who will code your VIN number onto their system. Once it's on there you can just quote your VIN and order anything without them questioning it again.
