More updates! Done a few bits and pieces, new MGC bonnet arrived so a trial fitted it along with the carb and air cleaner to see if I had enough bonnet clearance. I didn't. This has hopefully been rectified with a much lower engine mounting rubber on the L/H of the engine bay, won't know till I've re-fitted the bonnet. Prop shaft was fitted, hole extended in the transmission tunnel for the gear lever, bonnet stay fitted. Fans/Rad/Hoses/Distributor/HT leads etc arrived and are awaiting the end of painting before being fitted. Speaking of painting the front and rear valence also arrived, so they were fitted. Rear valence took a lot of blending to fit. The whole body was then covered in several thick coats of high build primer-filler before being rubbed back with wet-n-dry, it's now sat awaiting some top coat! More by the end of the weekend I hope

Great progress Just been having a read through again and I noticed you've done polybushes at the front, can you remember how hard/easy it was to do the top wishbone bushes at all? I'll be doing the front suspension on mine soon, I've already pushed the bushes into the lower arms, but am going to have to do the top ones on the car

Not sure how easy they will be in the car, might be do-able with a G-clamp. Cheers Flyingphil

Now with added colour... The holes you can see in the bonnet are for the bonnet pins, the bonnet was only sprayed at lunch time so still drying, I'll add them soon.

More updated! Rear lights fitted Tailgate painted and fitted Tailgate screen fitted Rear spoiler painted and fitted Side lights fitted Bonnet fitted correctly along with seals Bonnet pins fitted Bonnet release cable fitted I also did a load of behind the scene's stuff; Radiator fitted along with the majorly uprated cooling fans. Wiring loom fitted back in and the loom for the rear re-ran inside the car rather than underneath. I hate running wiring under cars. Dashboard fitted, need to modify the tach to take the 8cyl input not the 4 cyl. (twice as many pulses). Managed to remove the steering wheel finally, with the help of a ridiculous hydraulic puller. It wasn't very "round" when I'd finished. Windscreen was fitted but I need to fettle the fitting slightly, so more work required there. Thanks for reading

Bit more progress; Bit of an odd jobs weekend this time, I kept pushing the car outside to work in the sun and then it would start raining so inside it'd go. Trimmed the side panels and fitted the brightwork so I could fit the rear windows. Removed the windscreen as I'd forgotten to trim the front of the roof in headlining, refitted the windscreen and added the spreader insert. That's a job I don't want to do again. Fitted the headlamps, which didn't take all that long but visually made a massive difference, see the photos at the end. Repaired some of the damaged wring loom, wired the headlamps, side lamps and cooling fans. There are only a few cables that need plugging in now, the end of the wiring is in sight! Fitted the new switches to the dash, cleaned up and repaired the column stalks and fitted a new ignition switch. Modified the new throttle cable to fit and attached it at the accelerator. Fitted the new fuel filler and plumbed it in. Finished plumbing the remote oil filter. Probably a few other jobs I've forgotten to mention A few photos taken as I was moving the car back into a different garage bay, it's getting a little heavy to push now so I should probably think about getting some life into the engine.

Ah well they may be a common choice but they do suit the look of the B very well If you got ones with the dark grey centre with polished lip it would give a very nice contrast to the orange but should look great whatever colour Need to get that ride height down a touch though

Once it's all built and on the road I can play with ride height and roll bars etc. though. It does currently sit very high, however the Range Rover sat quite high for a week or so and has now dropped a fair bit.

Ah nice, they do look good (when they're clean mine were forever covered in brake dust haha) Mm given a bit of time they should settle down somewhat, ah I forgot the later B's have the rear anti roll bar also. I've seen a few pics of B's with lowering springs on the rear and they all look higher than mine which makes me think I should just stick with my tired old rear springs aha

Have you sacked off the idea of using the Mk1 arches then?
Do you want rid of yours - as I'm looking for some for my MGB roadster V8 Conversion.
All the best,
JB

So, this happened at the weekend... you'll want headphones for the video Lacking photos but; Brakes bled and working All lights working Gauges working with exception of oil pressure Sunroof fitted Seats fitted Dash finished off Cooling fans wired Heater valve plumbed Ignition wired Washers wired/working A minor setback, I wasn't happy with the steering so stripped the column out and found it was not as it should be, too much slop. I've ordered a new one along with a new UJ.
