Nice car choice I've had a few vivas myself and absolutely love them. I've currently got a sportshatch estate and will very soon be getting a 2.3 four door viva.

Mot today. Needs sidelight bulb. One headlight is low. Blow on exhaust and brakes binding on so not brake tested.. Pretty pleased. Exhaust is half done. Brakes freed and adjusted. Carb cleaned etc.. now not running due to ignition problem. New cap rotor leads points and condencer will be ordered tomorrow..

Nice to see another Viva in your herd Si. Are there any turbo diesels planned or is she looking to keep it stock?

Update! MOT OBTAINED! Brakes adjusted, exhaust repaired and headlamps aims done Oil & coolant changed, tappets adjusted and silly carb-related mistake rectified have now resulted in a pretty sweet running 1256 still has a low speed flutter that will need sorting but otherwise ready to rock! Interior still needs a full clean down and drying out due to a lack of door seals I gave the seats a wipe down twice and the cloth kept turning brown so still needs more cleaning! The naff rear window tint has been removed which certainly makes the interior feel bigger ;D Mrs B8D hopes to go out and about in it today as she hasnt driven anything for a few months but these are so easy to drive I'm sure she will get back into the swing of things quickly And here's what might be getting added soon The hunt is on for another matching pair for the front........ love this always thought this was one of the best looking uk saloons ever brings a tear to my eye when i think how many of these and chevettes i killed in my early days of driving, the rear crankshaft oilseal used to be the weak point resulting me blowing the bottom ends apart, me and my dad had swapping these lumps over down to a fine art around 2 1/2 hrs all in lol but back then i could get a new lump for less than 50 quid lol
hope you find another pair of slots that will look sick

That's a very early hc with that square vent dash. They are great looking cars and the last of the British vauxhalls before everything was a rebadged Opel.

I thought the cavalier mk1 held that badge, designed by Vauxhall but built Europe wide, so it's a Vauxhall re badged an Opel, Last stand alone Vauxhall without having an Opel version! I always found it strange that it competed against the cortina in size, but the majority of Tina's seem to be 1600 ones against 1300 in viva's, That might be just my perception at the time though, I think you can machine the drum hubs to accept BMW E30 discs, though the original drum. Brakes might be fine, I have never tried a drum brake model to find out!

Love that, I had a massive grin when I saw those wheels as well. Good luck with the wheel search, that will look the nuts with those on.

Lovely car Si, hope your good lady is happy with it. I'm sure if this turns out as nice as her Fiesta it will be a little cracker with a few tasty mods

thanks people. wife loves it and is driving it everywhere...
a few little plans are afoot that include mappable coilpack ignition and a pair of small bike carbs on a webber manifold. not really for performance although it will help a little but mainly to get the m,ost from this little engine in my quest for reliability smooth drivability and good mpg..
wheels as steve says will be 15" slotmags all round i just need to find another pair..
other than that very little modding. stop the leaks. fit front discs and servo new carpet and some sound deadning. and then a bit later maybe a 5 speed conversion..

ive bought a pair of 15" slots for the rear and am hopefully picking up another pair in 14" for the front at essex swapmeet if i cant sooner..
wife has been driving the car daily and loves it!
i will be doing a few updates soon as I'm fitting a mappable 3d coilpack ignition to it so will document the fitting including before and after dyno printouts.. maybe its overkill but if it gives me a few more hp with (and more importantly) more mpg, smoother better starting and reliability then thats good.. oh yeah plus a funky digidash via android and bluetooth in the deal which even though not really needed it will be very cool....
after that i will mod the carberation for a little bit more...
