Yep, I'd certainly like to think there have been some cool Cavs about, I've owned a few of them! This was the last one, bought with no engine and box then fitted with Manta GTE bits. Also, my old brown Cav Sportshatch. It had a very hard life, particularly the last few years of it, and is now sadly gone. It was utter curse word but I've never had more fun with a car. Not modded, but I still liked it... Oh, and the last Royale coupe ever:

Have you got a link to your build thread? Afraid I don't have a build thread, but here is how it was when I first put it back on the road: And a little taste of the project progression of late: Safe to say it should be pokey enough, especially when I start putting the final plans into action

2.6 straight six in a cav?
Suits you sir!
Or is it a C30NE/C26SE Hybrid?

Very observant! It is currently a C30NE/C26NE hybrid, which is how I bought the engine. Just going to get the car back on the road with the ecu it came with first, then I will be swapping it over to megasquirt and edis. Then if I'm not too scared it might be getting a modest extra power upgrade...! In the first pic a few years ago it was running the 2.5L 12v engine that was sat in the engine bay but not running when I bought the car. Tbh even with the 120lbs of torque that engine made it was plenty quick enough... but it seemed silly having the immense weight of the CIH 6pot if you don't use the most powerful variant - hence the goldtop. I always wanted to build a car with the ethos "what if vauxhall made a really hench but discreet version of the mk1 cavalier" - so that is the direction I am taking it. Where possible upgraded parts have come from other vauxhalls of various era.
Progress has been pretty slow over the last year for various reasons but I'm marching on with it now, can't wait to hear that glorious straight 6 under load again!

Hahahaha, not another one! (or do you mean that you are building a c30ne/c26ne hybrid to put in a different car?) I really started this just to save a mk1 cavalier from being scrapped, which is basically where it was headed. Then I got addicted, all downhill from there! It has taken a lot of work to re-do some of the car's past life, but it will be worth it.

Nah you're safe - mine will go into my Carlton Diplomat, so it'll look like a 2.6 dippy but move like a GSI.
Happy days!

Awesome! I do like carltons, a really solid performing car and I obviously love the engines!! Speaking of which, time for a pic from google to outweigh my selfish ramblings about my own car!

Going back to Big Bertha I found this earlier, which leads me to think I was right about the width of the shell, "This car was a collaboration between the ace designer Frank Costin and ace Vauxhall tuner, Bill Blydenstein. A Vauxhall Ventora 4-door saloon provided the body and chassis for this car; the roll cage was used to integrate the tubular front subframe with the rest of the car. Lightweight, fibreglass was used for the one-piece front end, the 4 doors, boot and rear panels." I know that Baby Bertha was a good 10" wider in the body due to the huge extended wings. ----- I think this is John Pope in his earlier car,------ and a couple of others, (not Pope)

Stands a chance 5 '' either side on the flares is comparable, seen a lot wider in other conversions of track racing etc.. perhaps the original question discounted the flared wings? And the thinking was the whole car was split n cut which would be eyebrow raising the Damn Viva is bloody well damn bloody!!

Nah, look at the lights, they would need to be bigger and so would the grill, they are in proportion to the rest of the car, and the rules stated the screen aperture had to be original size and rake, the car does look lower and wider due to it having 2" arch extensions and a deep spoiler on the front

Hi Fred, BAY 101K is still about, it belongs to Con White of The Charnwood Cruisers. I would think that FD of Con's is unique in that it is still with it's original owner, Con bought the car brand new on 05-10-1971 over 41 years ago now. I doubt the car will ever be for sale, not while Con is alive at any rate. I have got some more up to date pics of it somewhere, I normally see Con at 2 or 3 events each year. Cheers. Russ.
