Depends if you started doing it in long before everyone else was putting small wheels with stretch rubber on slammed cars... That part of its history I don't know ,... but it is known through out the world as South London look... it's a kind of precursor to Euro style.. This thread today is the first time I've ever heard of the South London look/style! How did I manage to miss that then? I must get out more! Mike

I've never heard of it before.
Although I do remember an article in Street Machine which mentioned the whole London scene.

I'd come across the phrase being used on here a few times - never come across it before that. It just intreagued me. Thanks to RR I now know what it is (I think...) ;D

I am liking all of these pictures. This is a 'look' that excites me greatly. Must broach the subject with the keeper of the purse this eve.

7x13 superlights 175/50/13s stretched on Clean original bodywork and pastel colours usually No Arches No Stripes No Turbos No electronics Harris Pinto on twin webers is the "best engine ever" for the sarf lahndan boys, and miles better than any "modern sh!t" except when you have to go to a 16v Pinto, then feel free to contradict anything you have previously said about nothing beating a pinto Helps if you are incredibly thick skinned as well ;D ;D ;D ;D Is that along the same lines as insisting that you do the Kadett 'proper' by dropping the CR to 8:1? *n

What happened to that Cortina Nitemares I think?) had not long ago? That would suit Pog surely?
I think the Harris clan were/are Sarf Larndeners and their name seems to come up very often with reference to tuned Fords. I suspect we're on the third generation now?

Just conducted a mini-survey down here and no one else has ever heard of the South London look either. I thought it was just me!

I'm not sure just how universally used the term is and in reality I suspect that the look reaches far beyond the realm of Saarf Lundun but it has to be said there's always been a whole lot of low Ford action in these parts. The location of the Harris clan definitely has a bearing on it. If you want to avoid any territorial arguments then try 'Old Skool Ford' as your term, but I shall be referring to tiny-tyred and slammed RWD Fordness as South London look in the foreseeable future anyway! ;D

Its all in the pastel shades, originating I suppose from the light greens, baby blues and off whites used in the 60's and brought into the nineties with turquoises and pale yellows possibly even lilacs. Very simmilar to the colours used by cal lookers in the early nineties as well I seem to remember.
The term was well used among my mates around here (Bognor) in the 90's mainly picked up from the harris clans escorts and 'tinas featured in street machine i think. There was a pastel yellow Mk1 escort round here and another greeny one.
Had a 105e when I was 15/16 I wanted it mint green and low over revos. My dad wanted it stock. Dad was paying I was doing the work, or rather not doing the work because I was a stroppy teanager who wasn't getting his own way. Sold it to a lad who got it back on the road, daytona yellow, forest arches and white wellas. Wish i'd been arsed enough to pull my finger out and do it myself.

13's.........skinny tyres.......harris HPE or HT pinto/crossflow.......4 spoke RS's or minilites (revo's are just about allowed).......period mods and accessorys.....NO arches.
I do like the look.......but theres only so many you can see before you fall asleep
they love that sort of stuff on turbosport.....specially when the word 'zetec' gets mentioned ;D ;D ;D

archetypal saaf lunun look maybe a change of colour and different ford stripe kit and you get the different cars that sport the look a very cool look, but you'd be pretty hacked off if you went to a show to see 250 practically identical escorts lined up. IMO

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
