Totally agree, less is more on this one. I'm also nodding at colour coding the bottom half of the bumpers. Yep. This example looks good. Just clean and shiny, half colour coded bumpers, nice wheels, and factory ride height by the looks of it. Boosh!

Here's my b4: I've had mine for just over a year, love that fact that many people don't have a clue what it is.

"KNB" on the plate relates to an old Austin Rover - then VW/Audi dealers in the middle of Oldham. use to live a few miles from it when I was a young un. One of my dads cars came from there also. Our old "KNB" was a Maestro VDP on an A reg!

Cheers mate! With the 80 all it needs is a drop and some nice wheels, dunno if you've got an Audi sport steering wheel but they look miles better than the standard one.

Is that car from Oldham by any chance? Having looked through and sorted the history of this car, I can confirm you are right mukka. It originated in the Oldham area.. F571KNB started off with Route One Leasing in Manchester for a year, serviced by Lookers in Oldham, then onto Mr France in Bramhall, serviced by Smith Knight & Fay in Stockport. It stayed in Stockport until 1998 when it changed ownership and moved down to Loughborough. It then moved to Northumberland in 1999 with Mr Tait, who had it for about 14 years until I bought it from the guys who had serviced and maintained it for all the years Mr Tait owned it. Recorded mileages: 02/02/90: 6240 (service) 30/01/91: 10,175 (service) 14/02/92: 14,126 (service) 16/02/93: 19,979 (service) 26/07/95: 29,548 (service) 19/12/96: 46,128 (service) 23/07/97: 55,121 (service) Then a bit of a gap 25/03/04: 111,535 (MOT) 01/04/05: 115,659 (MOT) 27/03/06: 117,960 (MOT) 29/04/08: 119,923 (MOT) 29/04/09: 122,026 (MOT) 28/04/10: 124,757 (MOT) 04/05/11: 126,509 (MOT) 27/04/12: 126,872 (MOT) 20/02/13: 127,129 (MOT - When I got it) You can see it's only done 16K miles in the last 9 years! I'm currently laid up for a few weeks after having an operation on my foot to repair a fracture that didn't heal properly when I broke it back in 2007, so I'm unable to drive for a while unfortunately. With this in mind, I spent some time with the B3 the day before my op. It'd been parked up at my works warehouse since I got it back in February, and a) had run out of petrol and b) had a totally flat battery after I left the radio on (my bad!), so although it took a while, and with the help of a jump from a fork-lift battery, I got it going again, and drove it round to my flat about half a mile away. Much better. Even while I'm laid up, I'll now be able to pop down and start it up a couple of times a week. I washed, clay barred and polished it on Tuesday, plus got some colour into the faded bumpers and gave it an interior plush up, and already it's looking better... With my other motors.. The plan is to relocate to Teesside in September, so I'll be doing a lot more miles. I'm mulling over using the Audi as my daily driver, as it'll be much better on the fuel than my 2.3 Saab.

Time for a small update on the Audi. The relocation to Teesside in September is definately happening, and I plan to use this as my daily once it's taxed and on the road from Thursday. Looking forward to it, as it's crying out for a blast to get rid of the cobwebs. It's been parked up for too long now. Today, I swapped the modern looking 3D style number plates, fitted by a previous owner, for the original dealer plates that I found in the boot. Admittedly, they don't look as clean, but they look 'right'. The modern ones.. Better older ones... Next to the Celica..

Love it, but then I would owning a b4 80 avant myself. Fantastic vehicles, they do seem rather unloved though, if only they were Rwd rather than fwd people would be all over them. I was a BMW e30 man for years (owned 20, but an equiv aged Audi 80/90 or a Merc 190e of the same age are far superior but don't command the cash or interest!

Nice looking 80 you've got there. The Saab 9000 is lovely too.

That's a really nice, original 80 you got there! Original plates looked best imo aswell, nice to keep it looking as Audi intended. Although, Borbet A's with the twist caps look good on these.

I haven't even looked at the heater yet. It's too hot for that at the minute lol. The guy I bought it from told me the heater matrix was buggered and needs replacing, so I guess he disconnected it. I hear it's not a quick job.
I taxed the 80 today, and was planning on giving it a run down to Teesside (65 miles from mine). A flat battery on the Celica, caused by leaving a door open overnight, meant I jumped it off the Audi, and used that one to drive down and recharge the battery. I'll be onto the Audi next week.

Well, five days late, I eventually got this one out for a blast up the Spine Road (A189) this afternoon. Loved being out in it, although it definately feels like it's holding back a little. It's only done 16K miles in the last 9 years, so I'm sure it'll loosen up with some use.
